  1. Not sure, but lemme ask you this.... Why in earth would you take a good 4WD and convert it into a 2WD? expecially Auto (BLECH!) -Brian p.s. No offence, meant it in the nicest way possible.
  2. All i need is about another .5" more in the rear. I'll see what i can find, but not too worried about that right now. I just got back from the shop, and while the car was in the air i took a look at the rear bushings. They are all shot. VERY badly might I add. The mechanic said they needed to be pressed into the control arms... is that true? Im going to start pricing some bushings and see what I can find. Josh, where did you get your bushings and how much did they run? Did you get bushings for front and rear? I think i might just do the rear bushings cause the mechanic said the front's werent that bad. -Brian
  3. "Pick-N-Pull will be having a 1/2 Price Sale at all participating locations Saturday, March 20th and Sunday, March 21st! Pick-N-Pull Nevada locations will be having the 1/2 Price Sale Friday, March 19th and Saturday, March 20th!" Got that in my email this morning. I'll be going to the PnP in Rancho Cordova this sunday to get parts for my Legacy. Anybody else interested in going? -Brian
  4. Is poly better than rubber? Not sure if I need to replace my front struts, but my rear end is kinda sagging. I'd like to get alittle more clearance to clear these tires that I have on there. Do they have aftermarket rear shocks that add more lift? Not like 3" or anything. -Brian
  5. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIGHT ON!!! I'm glad Subaru came to their sences (on the caliper idea). -Brian
  6. Thanks Em... I just got the car yesterday, checked the oil and thats about it. The car needs new brakes.... seems like the rotors are starting to warp. Hope their as easy to replace as EA81's are. Maybe after I got new pads, rotors and bleed the brakes things will change. Are there any other proceedures involved when bleeding the brakes on a car with ABS? -Brian
  7. Yeah, 162k on the clock... not bad at all. Took it to my mechanic today on my lunch break and dropped it off. He quoted me $950 parts and labor for the clutch. So i'll be picking it up tomorrow and hopefully he'll have it ready by lunchtime the parts car, is a 2WD so i guess i wont be getting anything off of it... but i will be in replacing suspension parts soon. -Brian
  8. Im talking about the library on LegacyCentral.org. WOW! The price shocker was for the suspension upgrades listed at Teagues Auto. Something like $900 to $3000. That $80ea sounds alot better. Where on the net should I start looking for a good deal on bushings and struts? -Brian
  9. Legacy777, ive already stumbled upon the bbs and also the library... all i can say is WOW! What a great colaboration of subaru information. It definatly helped me out. Im thinking im going to replace ALL the bushings, and maybe even the struts. Prices i saw last night were alittle more than i was expecting. -Brian
  10. Its actually 262,328km, not miles. -Brian
  11. My ABS light is on in the Legacy. I read in the manual if it stays on, to have it checked by the dealer (HAHA!! Yeah right!). When i brake, sometimes i feel the peddle fall slightly and it shudders alittle. Sounds like the ABS is trying to work. The car's braking is also spurratic. Sometimes when i brake it has a very solid feel and slows down nicely. Some other times, it seems as if I have to press the peddle down farther to get it to stop. Should i really take it to a dealer? Or is there something i can do to help maintain the ABS system. I noticed the ABS lines that run to the front passenger corner of the engine bay. -Brian
  12. No rear LSD. All tires match. Same size, and model tire. How many bushings are there? I really need to get a manual for this car heh. -Brian
  13. PARTS!!! Definatly. Anyone know if the rear ends on the 92 SS and the 90 L are the same? -Brian
  14. Thats all fine and dandy... but lets stop the arguing. The car gets up and goes!! I think the Power steering is failing. -Brian
  15. 1992 Legacy Turbo Sedan. 5spd, AWD, 4dr. When i accelerate real hard, seems like the rear end wants to swerve to the left. When i let off the gas, the front end wants to veere to the right. Makes it very difficult to handle the car at high speeds when it wants to fishtail everywhere... and its kinda scary. And if i hold the steering wheel steady and let the car make a wide right turn, the front of the car will steer hard, then steer back, then sharp, then back... and repeat... all without me even moving the steering wheel. Also seems when i brake hard, the rear end wants to swerve as well. Anybody have any ideas? -Brian
  16. I just bought my 1st EJ Series Subaru. Its a 1992 Subaru Legacy Sport Sedan. Turbo, 5spd, AWD, black 4dr. It needs a clutch but runs great. Its a canadian car with 262,000 km on it. KInda beatup but will work for me. pix: http://usmb.net/gallery/album205 -Brian
  17. The car is a pig right now cause the clutch wont grab. Kinda sucks, but i bet it will be night and day when i get that new clutch. Found one on the Legacy Central board for a 2.2T and it'll cost $243 to have it send to my door. Should have it here this weekend. Might try to locate a mechanic that will install it for me, or just suck it up and do it myself. Leaning more toward leaving the tranny and engine in, and tilting the motor out of the way. Also... the car is a canadian car. So everything is in KM/h. Its going to be hard to keep it at the speed limit, when it looks like my speedo sais im cruising at 110. Also, the mileage is in KM/h as well, so it only has 262,000km on it, whatever that is in Miles I think its like 140k or 150k miles. Pix: And tons more here in my album: http://usmb.net/gallery/album205 Looks kinda beat up, cause it is. Car looks like it was the dude's fun-toy or something. The entire belly of the car is filled and covered with mud underneith. Checked, and no VLSD -Brian
  18. Nope, actually found 4 or 5 legacys that i checked out. Most were 2WD and Auto's.... this was the only 5spd AWD sedan i could find, and i just couldnt help myself. Cant wait to get a new clutch in it. Also... the front end wanders when you turn right. Seems like something might be bent up front. Tires are new, rims are trashed and will be replaced. -Brian
  19. Went and looked at it in the daylight. Test drove it, fell in love... bought it. Paid $1300 cash, pictures before nightfall. -Brian
  20. Thanks Corky, i apreciate it. Ive been lurking on the Legacy Central board and got some information from them that might help. Also lined up a replacement clutch from a member there for $185. -Brian
  21. Yeah, it has AC. He also had the entire exhaust replaced so im sure the exhaust studs wont be too difficult to remove. -Brian
  22. Nope, cant think of anyone off the top of my head. THere arent many of us around (subaru nuts). I found that car listed on Craigslist as well, he was asking $250 for it. Im tired of 1.8L engines. I think its time to upgrade to the 2.2 -Brian
  23. I know... i dont quite think you guys know what you are talking about. This isnt a measily EA82T. This is the full fledged EJ22T mated to a 5spd AWD Tranny, with a complete 2.5 exhaust and new tires. Body damage means nothing to me. I have a lead on plenty of other subaru's. Jeremy (subieman)'s hatch is available to me, and its the most straight EA81 ive ever seen. But this Legacy is my dream car. Its in my price range and it drives real good. I will see it in the light today, and if I like what i see (ie... no cracked CV Joint boots, no smoke in the exhaust) then i will be forced to get it. -Brian
  24. Thats what I was thinking, all the elec and turbo crap is more than im used to. Ive done clutches on older sube's, but never on a EJ. I doubt i could get the front of the car a few feet into the air. Im thinking maybe 18" to 24" is the highest i can get the frame up, and supported. -Brian
