Anyone know how the SUBARUBICON Boys are doing?
The man who posted that on the Pirate Board happens to be a friend of mine. I asked him what the subaru's looked like and he said "some wagon and brat looking thing" Might be Eric's hatch and Kens Brat. I heard from John, Mudrat, today who was supposed to meet up with them from what i heard (last plans i heard about) but John is still in oregon. Ken and Eric most likely will not contact me. I most likely wont see any of them on this trip. Not sure, guess we wait until they return to get the story. There is a huge cleanup run scheduled for this weekend. The pirates of the Rubicon are planning a weekend event, if Ken and Eric made it there last night and camped out there... you will hear it on the pirate board very soon. Havent heard a thing yet, so i doubt they are there. -Brian

AAAAAAAAARGGHHH intake bolt BROKE OFF
If you dont need that intake, cut it in half Like i said, that bolt shouldnt be attatched to the intake like that. its probably rusted in place.... you could probably break it loose somehow. Pry that bad boy off the head (the intake, not the bolt). If you can get the intake to come part way off, unscrew it alittle maybe so there is some space between the head and the intake. Smack the intake with a hammer and it might break that bolt loose from the intake and let it slide off. -Brian

Best way to gain C.R. with EA81T heads
Your the 1st on my list Noah. (as far as help) just need to gather thoughts and idea's. I know the air travels up... i was thinking of cutting a hole in the bottom of the spare tire holder, running a 90 degree angle of PVC pipe, maybe 3" in diamteter to a filter box that will fit snug against the hood. Need to get the engine 1st tho... so lets worry about that. I understand the CIS injectors fit into CV nuts, which is good. Not sure if I would use actual CV bolt... maybe a real bolt of the same thread pitch. I'm not sure if I want to jerry-rig it like that tho. Sounds like a good idea, but if I have to do it that way, might as well pay a proffesional to alumi-weld the bolts to the heads themself. Noah. I no longer use ICQ, too much of a hassle. Do you use any other chat software? -Brian

To Buy new or replace the seals, Oil pump?
Re sealing is a piece of cake. if you are strapped for cash, you might want to go with the sealing kit. Shouldn't cost too much for some o-rings. Really, very simple to do. There are 2 or 3 rings that need to be replaced, and its not hard to do. -Brian

AAAAAAAAARGGHHH intake bolt BROKE OFF
Woops... just re-read something: Does that mean when you rotate the inatake manifold, the bolt is actually rotating with it? If that is the case, you might be able to rotate the intake until the bolt is removed from the head all together. There should be no threads threaded into the intake manifold, so if you get the intake off and the bolt is stuck to the intake, you could tap it out with a hammer. -Brian

AAAAAAAAARGGHHH intake bolt BROKE OFF
Well... if the head snapped off the bolt, that means theres probably a good 2" of bolt exposed from the head. Try to remove the intake, might need to file the end of the bolt alittle to get the intake to slide off... but shouldnt be too difficult. I would either: Try to extract the bolt by using some vice grips on the exposed part of the broken bolt. Or maybe drill a hole through the bolt, through the side of the bolt... try to find a punch or something that will fit through that hole and use that to turn the bolt out. Might want to heat up the head with a torch. That should make the head expand and make it easier to retrieve the bolt. Since you have a fair amount of bolt exposed, it shouldn't be hard at all, and if your careful you should be able to save the head, intake and replace that broken bolt. Also.... make sure you put some rags or something into the intake on the head so metal shavings dont get into your engine. -Brian

Best way to gain C.R. with EA81T heads
True, but how much configuration is involved with the MS system? -Brian

Best way to gain C.R. with EA81T heads
Ok... so i guess there's a difference between the CIS and standard EFI injectors. Looks like i have to put more thought into this. I really dont want to modify the heads to fit CIS injectors. -Brian

over heating bearings
Not a problem, let us know how it works out. Maybe you should do a before and after. Try to find a way to get a reliable tempterature reading other than 3 seconds by finger, and then do it after you repack. Could be valuable information. I've never even worried about my bearing temps. -Brian

over heating bearings
Yeah, but if you remove the bearings, you will damage them. Try to repack them with them still in the hub. If you remove them from the hub, then you might as well get new ones cause chances are they'll be destroyed. -Brian

over heating bearings
well, if you remove the bearings, you need to install new ones again. I would recommend dissasembling it, remove the rotor and brake stuff, remove the CV, remove the seals and keep the bearings in place. Examine the grease and see if its already broken down. Not sure if it would be wise to clean the grease out, or put new grease in, but if you are truly worried i would tear it down and inspect them. Or wait until the bearings go bad, and do it again with more care. -Brian

over heating bearings
Hrm.... things will get hot. Remember, you have a disc right there that is generating alot of heat, so all the heat you feel might not be all from the bearings. Also, pack those bearings good. Take a fistful of grease, and start slapping the bearings into your palm full of grease. Make sure you get as much grease into those suckers as possible. -Brian

suicide doors
Looks like it has the rear part from a Gen1 brat behind the window. Would be cool to do this with a Gen1 brat because they have larger doors. If you were to convert a wagon to 2door, you'd prolly want larger doors to fill the body. -Brian
