  1. I think the bolt runs through that spacer between the exhaust and the head, and actually threads into the head. The stud is actually tapped into the thread, and everything else just bolts straight to the head. Looks like you might have to heli-coil anyways. -Brian
  2. http://www.usmb.net/repair/index.php?CurrentDirectory=FOLDER_3f35c591bdc2e0.78531895/&FileType=Article&File=ARTICLE_3f57f0c3765cb5.78588884.art There is a list of Brush Guards that you can get for your Subaru. These are just the ones I have seen or have gotten pictures of. Some arent available in the US, but it will give you an idea on what it'll look like. -Brian
  3. 2 WEEKS!!!! Are we all ready yet? Are we the only USMB members who are going? -Brian
  4. No break in the heat yet. Last 4 days have been 100+ and i think its supposed to stay that way for another week Got word from Mendo Dave. Wednesday the 10th, we're on. Shannon... can you make it? -Brian
  5. Maybe we can finally have a meet with Shannon and his Subaru I have to tell Mendodave, but we'll stay in touch Dave. -Brian
  6. WOOOHOOOO!!! Are you busy on wednesday the 10th? Thinking of having a mass yard run. -Brian
  7. Yup... sounds like it needs a radiator. Might wanna change the thermostat 1st to see. If you are strapped for cash, you can pull the radiator out of the car and give it a good cleaning. Spray the fins real good and make sure there is no mud or dirt trapped in there. Then backflush the rad a few times, then flush it and repeat. I bought a radiator for my '86 Brat from Kragen Auto Parts for $150. I heard you can find them online for $100 or $120... but i didnt want to wait for delivery. Just give them the year and model of your car. Tell them if its manual or automatic as well. -Brian
  8. STD means Standard. It was between a GL and a DL, or below a DL. They were available in Hatch's and i believe Wagons even came in STD. But they didnt have much of anything when it came to options. Even the headlights weren't an option haha -Brian
  9. I'll be in your neck of the woods by Thursday Afternoon. If you need to bust out some last minute repairs, you'll have an extra hand on Thursday. I did some work to my rig as well. Welded a rear diff, got some welding done to my brushguard, did some re-wiring and also got a roof rack (need to fabricate and install it still). Im still amped. I have the vacation time requested, still have to make sure its confirmed. -Brian
  10. Does he know what its worth. Since its a work truck, and was used as one primarily, chances are he thinks of it as "just another car". Offer him something low... depending on condition (hard to gauge without being there) but off the top of my head, i would say in the $500 ballpark. Just as a 1st offer. I wouldnt go any higher than $1200 at the most though. -Brian
  11. Are you in Southern, central or Northern California. Good luck finding a brat. Took me a good year and a half to find my brat. Im in sacramento. and yeah, you wont find a 5speed Brat unless somebody put a 5speed in place of the stock 4 speed. -Brian
  12. I would go get a 2" in and 2.5" out muffler to slap on there to keep it quiet. -Brian
  13. Can you make more of those downpipes? My roomies turbo could use one. -Brian
  14. I never knocked the hatch. I would love to have a hatch. Hell... i cant turn down any subaru. Even a Justy. But you line up 3 subaru's side by side. Racing 360, WRX Sti, lifted hatch... I'd pick the racing 360 ANY DAY. Even if it did make stock power of 25hp. I know on Gran Turismo 2 i can buy a 25hp 360 and make 125hp with a stage 1 turbo kit -Brian
  15. no SHawn. This is a mint racing 360. If I read that page right, it has 1 mile on it. Was built for racing, but was never raced. Sure, WRX's are nice and all... but this is a one of a kind Racing 360. Not even a STi would make me turn my head. Even if I needed a heart transplant, and saved $20,000 for it... i would blow it all on that 360. -Brian
  16. Adam... hope you can get your brat done. If not, you'll have to take the EA81T off-road hahaa Have you checked into Labor Ready? -Brian
  17. Dont get me wrong. I would LOVE to have a hatch. But not as much as I'd want a 360. -Brian
  18. I would much rather have a 360 than a hatch... no matter WHAT was in it. -Brian
  19. What is the water spraying into? Intake? INtercooler? IS this a turbo car or just SPFI? What is water supposed to do. My understanding is that water is bad. It doesnt compress, and it doesnt burn. Meaning, it cant do much good to an engine other than cooling. -Brian
  20. archemitis if you took that 360 with 70hp and compared it to your hatch with 70hp, that 360 would tear the pants off of you and wave them back. Its not really hp that makes it a racing car... its the hp to wieght ratio. That 360 is TINY. Not sure how much it wieghs, but it cant weigh much at all. -Brian
  21. Looks sweet, and i bet its fast. That car is a paperwieght. The engine definatly looks modified. Even if you were able to squeeze 70hp out of it, it would be a screamer. And I've heard things about racing 360's that have made up to 125hp. And yeah, that paint job is beautiful. -Brian
  22. Do you have a gateway store up there Eric?? I would recommend them. My girlfriends parents bought a gateway about 2 years ago and last week it took a dump. It was still under waranty and they took it to the nearest gateway store and they fixed it for em at no charge. Pix look good. -Brian
  23. If you remove the metal shim that holds the front brake lines to the Strut, you can then cut through the metal housing that holds the break line and remove the line from the strut. That gives you enough room to move the engine crossmember and remove the struts without disconnecting your brakes. Seems like he's already past that point tho. You should leave most the bolts loose until your completly finished with the car. After prying and bending subaru sheetmetal to fit the blocks, it might be a good idea to tighten everything when its finished. -Brian
