Can I do this????
Yes you can. But you need to make sure the 5speed tranny is from another Turbo EA82. You will need to replace the peddle's cause you have to install a clutch pedle and cable. -Brian

Need electrical and wiring advice.
Well, all the wiring im going to run will be completly indipendant of the existing wiring. All on a 12gauge hot lead. My father, being an electrician, has those terminal strips. I dont know much about how electricity operates, like amps... volts etc, so I wasnt sure if I should use individual fuses for each component, or connect a fusible link or something to the main lead. -Brian

Need electrical and wiring advice.
I need to replace the alternator on my Wagon. While im at it, i will be wiring a Stereo, CB and probably 2 or 3 set's of lights. All the wiring will be new complete wiring for the stereo and power and everything. Can anyone give me any advice to help save my car from starting on fire, or jepordising my electrical system. -Brian

Badges Vintage, (question)
That was my 1st car. And my 1st Subaru. I put that car through hell and back. Here is a picture of it the day after i bought it: It was near perfect except for some surface rust, but ran like a champ. Either had 96,000 or 196,000 on it, single range 4wd. had to sell it after i lost my license. -Brian

EA71 4spd S/R -5spd S/R ??
Subaru's do not have an external transfer case. All the 4WD components are built in with the 4WD Transmission. There is almost no way to convert a 2WD to a 4WD. Or convert a 4WD 4spd to a 4WD 5spd. -Brian

front brake arguments
I took a standard 15/16 socket and cut away 2 sides of it, leaving 2 prongs exposed that fit the caliper perfectly. Loosen the bleeder valve as well, and it will make it easier to reset the caliper. -Brian

Badges Vintage, (question)
Hey... lookit that! My '79 DID have that badge: The pic looks like crap, but you can kinda see the Subaru badge on the corner of the hood. -Brian

S. OR camp/trail run. Sep 19-21
I have a CB, but no mic for it. its a real old one, and i should have it replaced before the trip. I need to install a stereo too, and wire my car. So i will probably spend a good 1/2 day totally re-wiring a stereo, lights and CB. -Brian

Badges Vintage, (question)
Gen1 Wagon and Brat. Pre 1978. That is the Subaru Badge you will find on the corner of the hood. My 1979 Wagon did not have it but i have seen plenty of '78s with them. I even have one ive restored (repainted the white and black, chrome is still good) and i turned it into a magnet. -Brian

rear disc conversion ... interchange alert
e Brake Components???? How very interesting. I wonder if we could use a legacy rear backing plate and caliper, and rig some sort of rear eBrake setup for our EA81 and EA82's. -Brian

ea81T or weber-ise
Bring that engine up here Wednesday hahahahahah -Brian

Should I get another sube??
I cant bear to tear the Wagon apart. And I couldnt take the brat off-road even if it were lifted, its in too good of a condition. We're all still on for Wednesday. I got a parts list too, and a holiday paycheck to spend. -Brian

rear disc conversion ... interchange alert
EA82 only has 2 types of Rear Disc's... 2WD and 4WD. Ive never seen rear disc's on a non-turbo Subaru, but they were an option as far as i know. -Brian

not a traitor.....
I cant move this post to that one. Just reply there and let me know when its okay to delete this one. -Brian

rear disc conversion ... interchange alert
You need to find out what car those came from. There is no reason to modify anything on your car as long as you got the right parts. I believe the 2WD and 4WD backing plates are the same. Are you sure those are from a Subaru?? maybe a Legacy or something. -Brian

ea81T or weber-ise
Less Grief??? Sell me that EA81T, use the money to get a manifold for your weber. -Brian

Whats this about Shannon?? -Brian

Should I get another sube??
THe raffle is a good idea. But if I get it, i want to make it fast. Ive never had a EFI motor let alone a turbo, and im very eager to make some power. But SHawn is right, its a waste of time to have 3 cars. Expecially since i dont even have 2 parking spots let alone 3. Shawn. I had that exact same idea today on my way home from work. I bought the brat so I can have the best of both worlds... slow for the woods, and a faster brat for the street. My goal was to make the Brat EFI but I could just lift the brat and use the GL10 as a racer. Another Idea i had was to buy it, get it running and take it to Oregon and sell it. I know someone will buy it after the 1st snowfall. And if I could get it running the way it was when it was bought, i know I could get $1,500 for it and not even have to smog it -Brian

highway driving with lift kit
I put rear disc brakes on my lifted wagon. It stops better than my brat. It will still lock up all 4 and if I do, its hard to control it. But with the 4wheel disc's, you can control your braking alittle better than with rear drums 90mph is fun tho with a Subaru thats 6" higher than stock -Brian

Should I get another sube??
Insurance isnt really that expensive. My brat and wagon averages about $400ea for 6months of insurance. Of course the GL10 would be different being its a different engine, and its a faster car. But it does have AWD and thats a big safety factor. It probably wouldnt be insured or re-registered until its running to my standards (FAST!!) -Brian
