  1. How do? I think I need to lift the front of the engine to let the pressure off the stopper, but I have no way of lifting it. (engine hoist, big I-beam to pull on, etc.) Tried to push it up from the bottom, but that just bent the oil pan a bit. Need help, havn't driven me Suby for over a month and I'm getting depressed!!!:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:
  2. DEFINETLY want some more! A few more t-shirts and a pair of sweatshirts would B awesome!!!
  3. I've got it on me 86. Deffinitly more gogo power, even with 205k miles and lousy compression! Bought mine at http://www.carbsunlimited.com works pretty good. Does run a little rich, but I think that's cause the jets are what came with the carb and I live at 4500 ft. elevation. No FPR - fuel starvation with it in. Prolly cause the fuel pump is still the orig! No return - didn't know I needed one at the time. Love it! No more difficult startin' when cold out!
  4. I've got the 12" electric fan from Hayden on mine. Works really good.
  5. Worn U-joint? Are the lug nuts on tight? Had that happen on my Suby, one was a loose wheel, the other time was a bad u-joint at the rear diff. Just my $.02.
  6. Oh yeah! I've got the 9004 silverstars in mine and your right, they DO make a diffrance. With the silverstars and my driving lights I can see signs about 1/4 mile away. Great for buzzin down the hiway at night! Do you know if they make them for the h3 single filiment bulbs:cornfuzz: I would like to replace the bulbs in the driving lights with them.
  7. Pardon my post jacking, but I'd REALLY like to know. What years, model, etc? Thanks And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread........:bday:
  8. Sorry 4 the delay, life got in the way. :-\ I kinda like the idle though approach instead of the ride the clutch then jump on the binders. I guess I've been around too many stock f250s with granny gears. :eh: Hope I didn't step on any shoes. Although, I was surprised how well 27" (I think that's what U'r runnin) tires on stock gears did. soobme: That's ok, my clutch is about shot and I've had it about.......... a year. Course, have U ever tried to smoke all 4 on dry pavement in 4hi? Didn't work. 4K rpm, :brow:WOT, droped the clutch, DOH! Only thing smoking, my CLUTCH! Oh twell, Ya live and and ya learn. I was just thinkin, if mr automatic had an extra 2:1, I think the auto would have worked! Ok, ok, I'll B quiet.
  9. Awsome video guys! Loved it! he he......had the whole family watching it! My mom kept saying "WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO TO THOSE SUBIES? ARE THEY NUTS?" Of coarse we are!!! Subies ROCK!!! BTW, who owns the red one? I liked the gearing it had. Qman, you need better gearing. How often to you replace that clutch? And that hatch looked like it was about to fall over, but never did! how'd U manage that? Cool guys! Makes me want to modify mine!
  10. I'd jump on a set too! A customer in a blue early 80's 2wd wagon came in today, 200k miles, some rust, but in good shape over all. He also had a 99 legacy with 300K miles on it! Told him about the board etc. nice to know I'm not the only suby nut here in AZ.
  11. Man, I'm :boohoo: all over the keyboard! We MIGHT see one snow flake this year. Makes me miss Idaho! :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:
  12. Gravel? Use 4wd! gives ya all the oversteer ya need!
  13. Is that why my alt to rad cap clearance has dropped to the point that I cant even put my finger between them? Used to be that I could just pull back on the rad a little and take the cap off. NOW I can't even do that! :cornfuzz:
  14. AH HA!!!!!! Honda gremlins at it again!! Whatch out for them! They love to attack Subarus!!
  15. You mean like I did the other day. I went to town to drop off my used oil at pepboys and when I turned the engine off it made this crack pop crackle sound! :cornfuzz: Curious, I turned the engine back on and HELLO!!!! the h2o temp guage is sittin up at 280!! DOH! Turned the fans back on and let her cool off and she's been ok since, but yeah, kina scary. oops:-\
  16. It's the carbon canister. I think it works like this: It catches the fuel vapors when the car is off. then it injects the vapors back into the intake when the engine is running. Some have just a filter on the bottom, others have a tube like you described. I think there's like, 3-4 hoses going to and from the canister.
  17. The sensor controls the fan directly. At least it does on my '86. If the 20m means 20 Meg-ohms then, yes, that sounds about right. The fan goes on at about 3/4 on the guage or about 210 degrees.
  18. I wish MINE where that simple!
  19. Yes, U can still get them. They're like, 3 or 5 bucks a pop. Havn't done it in my wagon. Yet. But it's in the to-do list. ;-)
  20. Good one, MorganM! And people wonder why I rewired my electrical system.:bday:
  21. OK, Relays I picked up at Radio Shack. 12V Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) rated at 30A. It's black with a little tab with a hole in it on the top to mount it. All the conections are on the bottom I used the thermal switch that's in the radiator to power the exsisting fan. Yes it's that little plug looking thing in the bottom of the radiator with two wires sticking out of it. I also added an adjustable one from AutoZone (PepBoys has them too) (Hayden is the manufactuer) to power the other fan. The one from AutoZone I took the sensor and put it in between the radiator fins by the radiator inlet hose. I set the adjustable to come on just after the thermostat opens (190). So, he runs most of the time. The second fan (the stock thermo sensor) turns on at 210 and goes off at about 190. Suby operates around 210 deg. The stock fan is fine the way it is, but I rewired it so I could turn it off when I charge puddles and take the load off the exsisting electrical system. hope this hleps! OH! I forgot to add the fuses between the batt+ and the contacts on the relay in the wiring diagram. 20A I believe.
  22. And I thought I had alot of lights on the front. I only have 7.:cornfuzz: oh yes, I REALLY dig those machine guns too. Good job. Can't wait to C it in camo!
  23. I run my fans on seperite thermal switches. The attached file shows how I did it. Basicly I use a switched (key in on position) feed that goes to a thermal switch that turns on the relay that powers the fan. The fans get they're power directly from the batt. Via the relay. :-) I hope it's not too complicated. :-\
  24. I agree too! The chime in my perents van drives me nuts when I forget to turn the headlights off B4 I open the door! :temper: he he......I'm working on modifying my headlight switch so that the lights go off when I hit the starter! I already did the cooling fans.
