  1. But is the choke butterfly open or closed? The choke may be stuck on. Is it manual or auto choke?
  2. Old auto ratio?? I heard they were different then stick shifters.
  3. Well, seems everyone is posting there little numbers I will join in. The dually EA81 I have has about 230,000km on it. Body is at almost 280,000km. But not much rustm which is nice. I don't think it has ever been on a beach, and thank god for that! 89 Brumby / Brat
  4. 5lb hammer may help? So the hatch's tank is different to the wagons?
  5. Not a complete answer, but all i know. Turbo ea82's have different heads (more inlet ports, for better flow) So you can't just throw the turbo on the non-turbo engine. As for the trans. I believe the turbo trans uses different splines on the front drive shafts. You may be able to use the turbo front drive shafts with the non-turbo inner CV cups (not sure.) Or you maybe able to use t e non-turbo front suspension, drive shafts and trans in the turbo'd car. There will be some wiring changes needed if you put the non-turbo engine in the turbo'd car or visa versa. BTW, I've never owned a EFI subaru or even a turbo'd one...
  6. lookin good. keep it up!
  7. Another good thing to do is open up all the panels inside the car and spray fish oil on all the metal. Just remember, this stuff stinks.... Its good to do in the tray of a brat. But maybe not good for a wagon.
  8. Yes, thats normal. Its just oil in the cylinders from when it was being put together, or from it sitting there for a while with oil leaking passed the piston rings.
  9. Still summer here, so no mud But I might be going out to have some fun today Pics look good. Wish I could have some fun in snow and ice...
  10. I would, but theres so many bloody rules here in australia. You have to have everything just about built and looked at by mech's and officals. All because of safty and insurance! So, I just have fun on the roads where its most dangerus with my brothers turbo ford...
  11. Me nither, but when its wet, I just gotta go down there to play in the mud. It's perfectly legal!
  12. omg. You bar stool. Now I want an XT again !!! I like how the wagon was carving three trenches in the snow, two wheels and a diff Nice choice on the music, go gone in 60 seconds!
  13. So maybe that's where my engine came from....
  14. ... Sweet freaking wheels! I keep telling everybody that those wagonwheels would look sweet chromed. I don't really like the old touring wagons, but yours gets an exption! When I bought my Brumby (I put a deposit on it 4 days before I picked it up) the owner almost rang me up and said he wasn't selling it! But his wife put him straight! So, where abouts in Adel you live? I'm far south, down near Cape Jervis, only half an hours drive to fisheries (offroading spot.)
  15. ... to buy your wagon!sweet ride man! Has it got the EA81T or 82T?
  16. Wouldn't that EA81T be out of a turbo brat? Any other EA81 car have turbos? Yeah, I'm sure he ment ea81. So, WagonsOnly, what year was the jap import RX I's? I thought the first RX was a EA82 body.?
  17. HMMWV tyres anyone?
  18. Just for the hell of it I'll throw this link in, its been talked about here before http://www.mattracks.com/ Plus you will have the gearing of running on like 14" wheels with no tyres!
  19. lol.. all my manual says for auto's is something like this "Take it to a qulified auto transmission repair shop" Sorry, I don't know anything about autos. But good luck.
  20. I knew I would get in trouble for saying all that... Yeah, new gens look fun to drive. If you have the cash for it, GO FOR IT! I'll be stuck with the old for now... until I can convince Subaru to build me this!
  21. To follow the rules I will only post two images, but heres some links to have a look too! Big file, my car in the Flinders Rangers Smaller, down at Cape Jervis looking at Kangaroo Island If you are familier with South Australia, you'll know where I'm talking about. Why do the slopes always look so lame once you take a picture??? This is pretty steep BTW 1989 Brumby (Brat) EA81 Dual Carb motor (valves the other way round and bigger, better flow, feul sucker delux) 2" lift kit Fenders trimmed 27x8.5/R14 Kumho Venture M/T's Normal alloy Aussie bullbar Custom 3" rollbar 14" by 6" steel "Sunraysia's" or "Dessert Rats" wheels No power steering and a 300mm steering wheel! These cars are so easy to drive illegally dark tint And I chose the extra option of "Mud spray"
  22. My attempt at doing something bit different http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com/pda_gps_console_mod.html PDA stereo Vacuum gauge Ammeter (i have the dash out of a sedan in my brat, so I already have tacho, oil, temp, and volt gauges) These pics show a Vacuum meter and a volt gauge, I've changed the volt gauge to a Ammeter.
  23. Nah, that's alright mate. We're all entitled to our own views. I have to go, so good luck with the XT or coupe search!
  24. I agree. Some think it's horrible. I like it! You sure you don't like the look of the Brat.... Not even like this?
