i have 215/70/15's on my 96 OB wagon would like to use the 225/60/16's from a 02 parts car I got as they are nice yokohamas fit? clearance issues? speedo difference? the overall tread width is not much more and interestingly the overall inflated diameter is not much bigger than I thought it would be...maybe 1/2-3/4" (due I guess to the lower profile tire) thanks guys

thanks fairtax got it done. Had some issues with the bolt spinning with the nut I was trying to take off. there must we a special spanner type wrench to hold the do-hickey on the opposite side. thank god the glass was gone and foe vise grips the window went up and down with some resistence...then, it would not come down at all.......but who cares...I'll look at it in the spring. maybe some shattered glass got in the scissor part of the mechanism thanks all for input

My sons 96 legacy 2.2 had the battery die on me and then I realized there was a faint hum coming from the ABS unit (front passenger side of engine compartment) It will (should) kill your battery I disconnected the wire going to it and all is well...except no more ABS (your ABS light will come on) I would like to replace the electric part but I need to find one reasonable...especially now that winter is coming. I don;t know if it is real easy to replace this or not. maybe someone else can chime in Anyone got one for sale?

my girlfriends forester has an oil cooler...I have never seen something like this (especially not in a soob) it s california car,,,,but to tell you the truth, our summers here in south eastern NY are by far hotter than where she is in the LA area anyone ever use one? what if I brought the car here where we have 10 degree winter days? Is there any detriment to having it? (oil NOT getting hot enough to burn off fuels etc?)

So where do most of you buy CV axles from? For the old GL/DL/Loyales I would buy them from my local carquest auto parts store and never had an issue I have to buy it in California where she is as I am in NY and am not going to pack it in a suitcase (or I could mail order it?) Anyone use the link on CCR's website for axles?...I think it was MWE

I drove it 2 weeks ago and all was fine In fact I looked over the car for her(it was her sons and no one had been using it for a short while) and tranny fluid (automatic) was red and smelled fine 154,000 Car seems to have been maintained well from previous owner--they have had it over a year I will have to get her to put it into gear again It sounded to me that when she put it into gear, it made a grinding noise. I thought that may mean the axle stub was stripped If so....one should be able to look from above and see it spinning while the car is not moving correct?

So I was just out in California and I was driving my girlfriends 2000 forester...all was well She calls me yesterday and it is making a bad noise...does not move in reverse. So I have her on the phone with me and give it a try. seems to move a little then stop...same forward Altho it is very hard getting accurate descriptions of mechanical things and sounds from a woman (no offense to you mechanical women out there...as few and far between as you may be).LOL So I'm thinking the worst...tranny?...then I remember the CV axle How would the best way to diagnose it? Look under it and see if it is spinning (being careful no one gets run over of course!)? Funny how it could go that quickly....I heard no noises If it is the cv...she has a Autozone and pepboys in the area I will be back out there 1st week in DEC. and could fix thanks guys

my sons 96 legacy 4 door....somehow the rear drivers side door window shattered...all by itself I pulled the interior door panel off and looked in Looks like there are two areas that the window bolts to...and 2 round discs that attach to the window but there are no bolts holdinging them on. I assumed it would totally bolt on and off Anone familiar with doing this? Otherwise I will look for a used piece and take to an automotive glass shop thanks!

so my sons first car...96 legacy 2.2 automatic I did all kinds of stuff to get it ready..T belt, pulleys, water pump, t-stat...all OEM Temp gauge has been fine for a month...running the standard 1/2 way up the temp gauge Lately it is running 1/4 way up....heat seems warm enough (as if maybe it really IS 1/2 way -but this is hard to judge) Could it be the gauge sender? No codes thrown Where is it...what does it look like does it need teflon tape on it? would a used one from a 2.5 outback work (not sure if it has a rubber gasket on it(i would be concerned that it might not seal well if it were old) thanks guys

ok...got some measurements from my 2002 spoiler (not really sure where tot take measurements but...) 42 1/2" from inside to inside of spoiler when opening trunk...looking at top of trunk lid....there are two sets of bolts coming thru...the outer ones are very close to edge of trunk lid (not easy to measure...the inner ones measure 43 1/2 center to center---thats all I got

Good question...sorry I was not clear I expected the new fuse to possibly blow but it did NOT... Would I be correct in assuming there is some kind of control box for this either in the drivers door or under the dash? I just landed a decent parts car that is 2002 so I can do some part swapping if someone knows where it is
