  1. ok now Im lookin at the Buckshot Mudders why you ask price and avalibility , the kumhos are like back ordered and I can get a set of buckshots for $500 off a Ebay store
  2. first of all 2:24 Am , whats a guy douin up at that time of night dreamin about offroad Soobies ? 31's for offroadin , well the stock Subaru gearing just isnt low enough for hill climbin , if your running in the dunes of something that would work, the hills and inclined trails at walker valley are too much for those gears, myself Im buildin up that same car EA82 with a 7-1/2" lift and a Nissan Tranfercase I will probably go with 30 x 950 MT , we will be movin the front axle forward 2" this will give room for the larger tire and help the aproach angle, once we figure it out I will be offering a engine/front diff crossmember to those who want to go that route, move rear axle back... you could do it with a custom mount/framework that bolted up to the body and then bolted up to the axle parts ,the driveshaft would need to be extended , I ran wore out 31 x 13.5 swampers on the back of my red car with a 6" lift, only rubbed on bumps. I could use those DL headlight buckets and lights and wiring if there going to be discarded
  3. as the title asks "has anyone put a SBC in a subaru XT" , lets give this guy some good infomation , why are we arguing about gas mileage?, I think from other threads he wants to build a awesome offroader that can pull a trailer, , goodluck longtrack, if it was me it just might be easier to put a subaru body on a chevy 4x4 chassis or even a pre 86 toyota chassis with a chevy engine and trans , you might be better off then trying to deal with weak subaru parts under a big V-8 , keep us all posted
  4. sammy T-case with low gears 6-1 ratio would be nice on board air for downin your tires
  5. I put one of these on the rear it works, but requires a ton of hand leverage to overcome the wheel spin, this was on a ea82 with drum brakes if there was a way to get more leverage and maybe better brakes like discs I think it could be handy I have one on my dune buggy and its awesome
  6. explain this in detail what parts does it take?
  7. heres a Link to some videos of last years trips http://www.loghomefamily.org/subaru/
  8. Ok buddy Im holdin you to it , you want to buy my swampers?
  9. " supper swampers ", now that sounds like a good meal yes swampers rule offroad, my daily driver needs something more roadable , also the swampers are a softer rubber compound and they wear to quickly on the road, also looking to go bigger my swampers are 27" , I want to go 30"this will be on a daily driver 6-7" lift with a Transfercase
  10. Im lookin to buy a set or 30 x 9.50 Kuhmo Mud Terrains, I would like a full set on 6 bolt white wheels, wonderin weres the best place to get the tires and rims, and what rims and back spacing works good on a EA82 this will be on a 6" lift also whos got them and whats your opinion on them?
  11. Rollie and I are planning the first trip for the new year, last time out we had a blast, It will be 1 year since my first time out to Walker Valley , learned alot since then , Im much easier on my clutch now , Heres the details so far Walker valley trip Saturday January 27 2007 meet at Bellingham Sunset Shell Station Leave at 8:44 , if no Bellingham response this will be a drive threw for me , drive threw Mt. Vernon McDonalds around 9:45 for breakfast ( get the Big breakfast),this would be a good place to meet if you dont know where the ORV park is, Meet at Northwest parking lot Walker Valley ORV park at 10:00 , this will be a all day Saturday event , will stop for dinner @ Mt vernon on the way home , its a family resturant with good food , dont recall the name monitering channel 2 on the CB , required vehicle setup: good offroad tires lifted welded diff or electric winch, or excelent retreavale equiptment CB radio if you would like to be part of the fun but your cars not up to it there should be room for a few riders , meet up anyway my car is a white EA82 with 4" lift, 27" Swampers, welded diff with a winch and CB Rollies car EA82 6" lift 27" Swampers , Welded Diff should be a fun day, will go any weather bring a lunch , camera and a few stories to share  if you would like to go leave a post here with a little discription and or picture or your machine/self Scott pic last time out
  12. Ive only had one rear axle brake and that was because of over extention ,it was on the rear, if you look around you will find that most all 4x4s (any Brand or model) when modified with bigger tires and ran hard offroad will at one time or another brake stuff, if your suspension geometry is set up within the limits of your components and you drive also within those limits you shouldnt brake that often , Ive ran on the road 1/2 this year with a welded diff with both axles in , had no problems at all your Yoya will be great, there will be times you will miss the wagon
  13. anyone in my area that wants to work on this project maybe weekly or whatever, Im not makin much progress, :-p  :-\
  14. Zap , I noticed the Kuhmos why not swampers? the reason I ask is Im looking to get a set of more streetable tires and am looking at the Kuhmos
  15. Im looking for a set if anyone got some
  16. I had a '86 with the automatic it was a x cab p-up I really liked the truck but when our girl came along I sold it as there was no room for a baby seat sounds like a nice project good luck
  17. Heres a idea heres a 31" x 10.5 tire on a stock 15 soobie rim, you could move the strut up to the second hole take some metal with 3 holes in itand bolt it up , I did this on a offroad Metro I put together, it also gives you part of your lift, I would stay away from deep dish offset wheel as Its harder to turn and hard on the bearings , and offroad it tends to jerk the wheel out of your hands
  18. went out northfork, we should plan another trip up there http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showpost.php?p=543133&postcount=3
  19. Here we are went up the hill out Northfork, should go up again with others. Mounted uup the studded snow tires and even got a flat on the main road headin in , not sure why it seemed like I was loosing power so we pulled over and the rear Passenger side was totally flat, it might have been low from home as I have never ran these befor, they ride much nicer then the swampers,
  20. we would like to go find some snow , so far its just my family today or tomarrow , think if we head out northfork up the sevice roads should find some anyone want to go its out Mt Baker Hwy past Deming
  21. if its the same as a 91 legacey i have the struts to make the pattern off,
