Dusty dirt road driving & now squeaky wheels
subie94 replied to tgzeagles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sounds like you got dust in between your rotors an pads or brakes shoes an drum...(not sure what kind of brake set-up you have) i'd do what Brumby Boy said.. -
of all the things that has happened to me,i can say that having a axle fall out isn't one of them... But i can say that i've finally broken a clutch cable.happened about a half hour ago.i was right in the middle of an intersection too.. made it home by starting in 1st gear and drive slow..(only to find out when i got home that i could of put her into 2nd gear) *now i get to replace a clutch cable*

i noticed that on the pass side of the trans were the axle attaches to the trans,i noticed it looks like a seal is leaking.(along with the smell of gear lube) my question is-has anyone ever replaced these seals and how hard is it? please tell me that the trans doesn't have to come out any help would be appreciated, thanks

some people carry spare axles,i had a trans...(i had to empty out the storage unit an no place to put it)finally got it out last week. i normally don't try jumping but i figured i'd test my shocks and see if by chance i'd get air..

the last time i tried to catch air with my legacy off a speed bump....i forgot that i had my spare trans in the back and all i saw in my rear view mirror was the trans catching air and almost hitting the roof..then a big thud!! *note to self-never do that again*

great video...great choice in music too... on the in-car shots...was there someone holding the cam? or did you have some kind of mounting set-up? i've been thinking of rigging something so i can mount my camcorder to the dash..(kinda hard to hold cam/steer/and shift at the same time)

i think you'll find it half a mile back down the road... looks like he smacked a large rock (boulder) yup, that was some crazy stuff!

here's a pic of the assembly from my 94 legacy...should be the same. green wire's power. black wire's ground. the two red wire's for the light. pull the fuse for the cig lighter assembly first. to remove the assembly, disconnect power wire and remove light.then you have to loosen the metal ring (counter-clockwise?)you may need a flat head to push against the grip bumps(lack of knowing the exact word for the part of the retainer ring) once you remove the ring,it'll come apart pretty easy.(self-explanatory) once removed, you can just test it with a multi-meter. i had to replace mine awhile back cause of a small wire that was broken...
