i have owned my 93 leg with the same issue for 3yrs now.when i got it,she had that sound and haven't had any problems.i did change the gear oil and it seemed to quiet things down a bit. (but of course i did put on a louder muffler,so maybe that's covering it up :-p ) my mechanic has told me that he had a legacy with the same prob and has been driving it for a better part of 5-6yrs trouble free. i also got a spare trans with the car so down the line we can just swap them to take care of the bearing issue.i asked him why not just replace the bearings and he told me that there are shims behind it and it'd be easier to swap the trans (seeing that either way,the trans has to come out)

not sure what the door panels look like on the back side where the speaker is,but you could probably get 6.5" in the front doors by cutting a ring out of MDF that will fit a 6.5,mount it to the door then screw the speaker to the ring.. you could try splice in speaker wire an running it to the back for the 6x9s...though it could take some power away from the back door speakers an cause them to not perform like before.

my 94 justy had roughly 54,000 on the odometer..just a little rust on the fenders and needed a tune-up.also the rotors needed turning... i've been told it runs like a champ (had to sell to my mechanic, will be getting her back....come tax time) but if it was me,i'd buy the impreza...but definatly look it over thoroughly.

luckly the previous owner did almost every thing for me.. behind the speakers are the dynamat baskets.. he also did the tail gate.not sure about the back doors, haven't taken the panels off yet. Syonyk, did you get any pics of while you were doing the install? are you planning on adding any subs or just keeping with the small speakers? -
andy...your alt must hate you. all i have are these.. bottom lights aren't hooked up.even if they were, they were really sucky.

yup, same here..use the engine speed to slow down. i've done that acouple times and found myself doing a straight drift(normally your going around a corner when you drift, not this time) for about 20-30ft...all the time scaring the sh*& out of my passengers. and was that fun..

i've done something similar..but instead of putting it in neutral,i just clutched.

i know you said your not crazy about install kits for smaller radios..but i didn't need one with my install.only thing is that i had something to mount below cd player cause other wise,i would have had a hugh opening.. (dang flash glare) can't remember where i got that compartment though...think it was from my 93 leg. the kenwood fit right in useing stock brackets.just needed wiring harness and a little trim around the trim molding to allow the face to flip.
