njdrsubaru replied to mikeamondo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyeah at 40 or 45 it will def. down shift to 3rd and if there is an incline or so at 40 it will even downshift to 2nd... i dont think there is anything worng with your tranny... but change the fluid and put some lucas trans fix in it just in case... i doubt at 83k miles the tranny is toast... let us know what happens

njdrsubaru replied to root4u's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXfuel pressure regulator... was replaced, but that really sounds like it is a fuel presure regulator problem, then again may be loosing pressure somewhere

97 obw slow to start
i had the same problem with a 2.2 once.. it turned out to be the cam sensor... somehow when the sensor is old, it gets very sensitive to humidity

Possible Rescue - 94 Legacy Wagon
njdrsubaru replied to subsince77's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyeah offer him $150! well go down to 200 and meet in the middle 250 maf sensor, O2 sensor, plugs, wires, filters will need to be changed... clean AIC valve and throatle body, all this can be done in less than a day. oh one more little annoying thing... knock sensor! also check the fuel pump.. i just got a used one from the JY for 5 bucks.. so they are cheap remember this: the 2.2Ts are NOT gas savers, at the best you'll get 20 mpg at worse you'll get 12-14mpg

Loose steering wheel cover
njdrsubaru replied to subyboy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXok so its time to revive this thread... i worked on the steering wheel today.. and it worked!!! well i wen to home depot and got the Loctite Super Glue Professional Bottle, its a 0.7oz bottle with a long tip, just like the classic Krazy glue tip. so on the back of your steering wheel at 10 and 2 oclock, you'll find some holes, get a small screw driver and just stick in there till you feel the metal of the steering wheel, sorta make the hole loose a little then stick the tip of the glue as far as you can in a angle towards where the problem is.. squeeze some glue in there, turn the steering wheel towards the problems and leave there for a few mnts (5 mnts for me)... so if your steering wheel is loose on top and you start doing it on the right, turn your steering wheel to the left in order for the glue to run off to the center... do the same to the other side. You may have to make a hole in the center part if your foam cushion is too loose, i had to. Be careful no to put too much glue as it will squirt all over as you are pressing the steering wheel on those 5 mnts wait.. i just hope this helps our problem... my steering wheel is as solid as new now  cheers Neo

91 AWD weird feeling when making a tight turn...
njdrsubaru replied to Rev's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXit definetely sounds like a clutch pack, the prices can run from $400 used installed up to $1000 new clutch packs installed, remember that the dealer does not offer the original parts number anymore, instead, they have a new set for the clucth pack job, it runs somewhere around 600 bucks... i just had this done to my legacy, luckily i had a good subaru guy and a good SVX clutch pack (six rings)

What would you pay for this car?
njdrsubaru replied to Bigbusa's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXBigusa i think 1275 is a good deal for the car, despite the timing belt and the rusty brakes i just bought the same car but in a wagon for 1600 with 160k miles on it remember that the 2.2s are non interference, so who cares if the TB is broken, it will take u 2 hours plus parts to replace that and there u have a nice car in your hands get it!

UPDATE: Problem Solved re What model is this 2-pot caliper from?
njdrsubaru replied to 95LEGOBW's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXmost likely it is from a bigger brake set... the 91 to 94 legacy turbos had those, and i believe the legacies 97 to 99 GT also had those

njdrsubaru replied to outback_97's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXit could also be the bypass hose... i had a subie that i thought the water ump went, it was dripping just like you said, it turned out to be the bypass hose EDIT: wait.. mine was a turbo, no sure if the 2.5 will have that too

njdrsubaru replied to outback_97's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXit may be the water pump seal- Loose steering wheel cover
njdrsubaru replied to subyboy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXi thought about that, injecting glue, but i'm not sure it will work, i got the same problem on my 95 - Loose steering wheel cover
