  1. In 1982 the Camaro was available with 4, 6 or 8 cylinders. So probably the 4 cylinder, I don’t remember the displacement, probably 2.5.
  2. Maybe a dumb question, but is the turbo working? Providing boost?
  3. A picture will help us to understand what exactly you’re dealing with. That way you can get the answer you’re looking for.
  4. Have you checked to see if you have spark? If not, I would start there and trace my way back to see where I’m losing power.
  5. From the outside oil. It’s hard tell from the outside when a non contaminated hose is bad. They deteriorate from the inside. If the rest are original, I would seriously consider changing them. They’re 24 years old, if I saw the model of your car right.
  6. If it were me, when you get it home, change all of the coolant hoses, unless you have done that recently. If they’re all basically the same age, you can expect more leaks in the future, especially the oil soaked ones.
  7. It does sound like it’s not getting enough fuel. It could be a restriction in the line but more likely, based on what you’ve replaced so far, it’s the fuel pump giving up.
  8. Amazing way to diagnose the problem.
  9. What about just replacing it with a simple Weber carburetor? If you want to keep the stock look, just adapt your air filter housing to it. Just my 2 cents.
  10. It couldn’t be a clogged cat could it? Or perhaps a fuel delivery issue?
  11. That’s a really nice looking Brat. How many miles?
  12. That’s a clean looking car. Original paint?
  13. Did the vibration start before or after you installed new tires? If after then it’s the tires. If before then possibly something in the front suspension, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc.
  14. I haven’t heard of this on a Subaru, but I had a master cylinder go bad on my ‘85 Nissan truck. I couldn’t see fluid coming from any where, but I kept having to add small amounts of fluid every now and again. After good amount of time doing this, I started having a problem with the brake booster. The booster felt almost nonexistent. Long story short, I was loosing fluid into the booster it’s self. Couldn’t see it from the outside. The master was bad. Ended up replacing both the booster and the master cylinder and it’s worked great ever since.
  15. That’s a nice car! One of the great things about it is that it’s an ea81 under the hood. No timing belts to worry about. Any more pictures of it, interior, exterior, under the hood?
  16. Nice job cleaning that tank. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tank that bad. It ought to run great now. It looks like your perseverance is going to pay off.
  17. You probably already know this but at some point, pull your dipstick and see if it smells like gasoline. If it does, you’ll want to change your oil before you run the engine much. I understand that right now you’re just trying to get it to run.
  18. Perhaps trace where each vacuum line goes and then ask the question: do I need this for it to run correctly? My car is fuel injected so I’m not much help knowing what your lines are connected to but I do know what is needed to make an engine run and can tell you if something is needed or not. If your 85 is like my 88, you will need a vacuum line to run the ventilation system.
  19. With all of the pieces you need to change over, it might be worth looking into buying the whole car and having it shipped, if it’s in that good of condition. Could come out about the same money wise and have a stash of NLA parts.
  20. Don’t know much about the 6 cylinders. Should have examined the artwork closer.
