  1. Only 2.2 turbo motor in the US is a 91-94 Legacy turbo The 22B had it as well ( different motor, but same size), but we didn't get that here.
  2. I've got an 87 turbowagon with a couple of mods. It is fun, but it seems the main purpose of it is to give me a chance to find new and creative ways to blow it up.
  3. I pulled mine when I did removed the air intake snorkus. Took a few minutes to find all the bolts, but it wasn't super hard. Just removed the wheel and the plastic fenderwell lining.
  4. Actually, It depends on the year.. This is something I came across quite a while ago, someone with an 85-86 FSM will have to verify. 85-86 Carb and turbo used the same cams. 87+ they are different with the turbo cams allowing for less valve overlap
  5. STi. And your original blanket statement didn't specify rear.
  6. Thatnks for the review. Only question. What's a BC?
  7. +1 I'll change it. When I saw the title, I thought you meant OLD school subaru.
  8. I don't see what the big deal about the locks is. Subarus lock setup resembles Saab's 'central locking system' than any 'power lock system'.
  9. A 135 HP EJ22 wouldn't really be an improvement. It would be more work for little to no gain.. Only the increase in potential would make it worth it. Mostly though, even with a nice fresh STi motor in there, the fact wouldn't change that its a 20 year old car with no aftermarket support. Basically, the wagon has served its purpose for me. It has been a pretty rough stretch over the past 5 years or so. FOr the past 16 years, I have rarely gone withut a project. Circustances over the past 5 years have required that it be the ultimate cheap project. I have to admit, the wagon fit that bill better than I ever imagined. But without dumping some serious cash into it, the wagon will never be capable of the things I would like it to be. Thats not to say I would never have another, but for now its purpose has been served.
  10. Yup. I'm getting tired of this thing. Trying to get real power seems more than its worth. I want 3-400HP, reliably in a useful car. I'm thinking Forester STi
  11. If you want lug adapters, search for peugeot 505 adapters as well.. When I lived in WA, there was a guy that was making them 4x140 to 5x100 adapters. Not cheap though.
  12. Someone else brought it back. I just wanted to clarify where I was with the car
  13. Mine never did start knocking.. It ran fine all the way home. Just pissing copious quntities of oil, and a couple of times, ticking like hell.. Thats the part that hurt the worst. This is the first EA82 I have ever heard that didn't tick. But man, you should hear it tick when it tries to run out of oil.
  14. I have a 4WD Turbo car here that may need a motor. Its a bit modified
  15. You're only about 100 miles away from me. I may be able to help scrounge up a carb motor locally.
  16. Yessir! If this was a more $$ car or project, I would be pissed that I am on my ... ummm.. 3rd motor in 3 years
  17. I've pulled three myself. Two turbos and one carbd. I didn't believe it either until I actually saw the first one.
  18. Issue was solved by straightening up the airflow across the MAF, and by ditching the crappy IC piping. The new stuff works much better. Ran well enough for me to beat the piss out of it for a while and blow it up
  19. Wow brotha. Sounds like a real chore. If it makes you feel any better, I did mine over the course of a year. Rushing is not usually an option when dealing with an old car with no bolt on parts.
  20. Only thing I can think of is to remove them from the car and very gently seperate them with the TC still attached to the flex plate. It will take at least 2 people and you will have to take extra care not to bend the input shaft on the tranny, as it will probably come telescoping out when you seperate things. I did this on an EA81 a while back. was a real pain in the rump roast, but it worked.
