ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....
calebz replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If the manual is to be believed, MPFI and Carb are 9.0:1 and SPFI is 9.5:1 All EA82s have the bung for the knock sensor. -
Its just a stock WRX uppipe. I was saving it for the next go-round, but now I'm not sure there will be one.
-
Galen, do you need a flange for a TD04?
-
How much of the WRX shifting mechanism did you use? Just the shifter rod? Linkage? Granted, I think it is too short for an EA81 car, but I think it might actually work for an EA82 and still leave a reasonable length shifter.
-
The best mod you can do is the 'search function' mod.
-
Yes, but unless he welds the center diff, it will break eventually. It wasn't designed to be the main drive gear.
-
I saw those a few months ago, but couldn't find any info on the spacing. 136 sounds close enough to me, if one is creative enough to deal with it.
-
Did you have the injectors cleaned/flowed? Chances are if they are old, they need some love.
-
Not confused. Some carmakers (volvo comes to mind) refer to their O2 sensors as Lambda Sensors
-
Ding! Internal VR - easiest to just replace the alt.

Yup, FHI has been in and out of bed with Datsun/Nissan for decades. Ever wonder why our LSDs are such a good fit for the Datsun guys?

Looks like a Sambar, whic has been around in some form or other much longer than the brat.

EA82T XX=XX N/A subframe!!!
calebz replied to Dylan86GL10's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've seen it a couple of times, but always with the xmember swap. BFH could knock the whole damn thing out of whack if applied too vigorously. -
Ever owned an old school turbo car? ..........Lcal dealer wanted $75 plus tax for a pair of OEM EA82 HGs Got them from 1stsubaruparts.com for 49/pr.. shipped

88 turbo just would not start,
calebz replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Started after sitting.. That leads me to lean more toward whomever suggested the CAS. Been there.. Thats sucked. 2 weeks to diagnose. Ten minutes to replace the distributor:) -
Given a choice between my 87 Turbowagon, My 05 Spactra5 and my 2001 Saab 95... My 4 year old daughter will pick the 87 Turbowagon every time. She likes working on it too:banana:

Is it turning over and not firing, or just not turning over at all? -
True, it isn't necessary, but it tends to make life easier.

25 spline front axles.....where?
calebz replied to Numbchux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As was I. I reiterate Turbo manual and 4EAT - 25 spline All else - 23 spline Those are the DOJ side Axle spline counts. There are no 'squillion' options or combinations. As far as the outer/hub side goes, they are all the same. Of course, again, this applies to EA82 -

Nope - 23 spline. You need 25 -

Turbo manual and 4EAT = 25 spline All else = 23 spline (applicable to EA82 only) -

Aftert I replaced my clutch cable I had what sounds to be the same problem. On some models, there is a spring mounted under the clutch pedal. It is not there on all years or all models. As far as I can tell, it is unnecessary. It actually caused more problems in my wagon that it helped. A proper return spring up topside with be more than enough to deal with pedal return. This may not be relevant to your problem at all, burt you never know. Besides, it beats the hell out of replacing the pressure plate.
