  1. No water crossings for me. Pavement only Thanks for the tips guys. But what I'm actually looking for here is real life number from anyone that has done. Maybe with a brief description of what has been done. Side impact bars stay Glass stays. The only 'offroad' use this thing will see is the track. It has to stay at least semi-legal.. Or not obviously illegal :-p So again.. For those that have shed some fat from an EA82 wag.. what kind of numbers are you guys getting? With me in the car, 1/2 tank of gas and a couple of pizzas, I last weighed in at just under 2900. So thats my starting number. I know what the door plate says, but I am starting with as close to a rea life number as possible.
  2. You're kinda on the right track.. just a slight touch of overkill There will also be some weight added, front and rear strut tower bars.. possible rear suspension redesign looks like it will involve adding a little bit of metal.. Hoping when its all said and done, I will remove more than I will add.
  3. In Japan maybe? :-p http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61047
  4. Stock is 36psi. (and some change) Remember that that is a relative manifold pressure. So when you are at 10 pounds of boost, its more like.. 46psi - above ambient atmosepheric pressure (of course) in answer to your question. Running stock boost, the stock FP is a good place to start. Does tend to lean out in the top end though. Fuel pressure is only part of the problem though. you still have to deal with delivery, GPH and injector pulse width. Delivery - Injectors GPH - Fule Pump Pulse Width - ECU/EM
  5. Slightly Off Topic: I bought a 1956 star chief that had been sitting for over 25 years. Changed the oil. Gas in the carb, fresh battery Fired right up Ran very well too!
  6. Well.. Looks like the wagon is going to stay for a while. I got no offers on it, and very little parts interest. No worries. I keep it. This weekend it enters its next stage. Given the time constraints, I expect the overall process to take around 1 year. Step 1 - Teh wagon goes on a diet. I know some of you have done some weight reduction. I looked around a little, but there are a few lightened EAs that I think are missing from my search. So here's your chance. What is the lightest any of you guys have gotten an EA82 Wagon? I already have a good idea of whats coming out, but I would be interested to see what some of the others weigh in at.
  7. Lots of the AU guys run big tires on lifted RXs and turbo sedans. Searching does wonders +1 on the capslock.
  8. Yup.. the 3.8 SC was the Supercoupe.. fun car for a piece of crap The 2.3 T coupe is the one with the RHB5.
  9. I would highly recommend against that procedure unless you are planning to resurface the block. Heat induced structural breakdown and warpage for the lose. I would consider something like this.. I have a set that attaches to a 3/8 ratchet.. They Kick rump roast. Still need to get the 1/2 set. You can get something similar at harbor freight for about $30
  10. If mine are any indication, its probably more of a serial number type thing. As I said. I have 2 that are identical, from nearly identical cars. Each with a different designation.
  11. None as far as I can tell. I have one with a VF4xxx number, and another with a VF7xxx number. Appear to be identical. Came off of similarly equipped cars.. 87-88 GL-10 wagons..
  12. Pic too small.. Cant see anything,. Is your wagon Carb? SPFI? Turbo? Information is a good thing.
  13. Replace axles, not boots.. A little more money. Less work. My time is important enough to me that I don't want to have to do it 3 times for the sake of saving a few bucks.
  14. In my experience, Find Private party blue book and cut that price in half. 10k for a salvage titled 02 is still too much money.. By a lot. I am a little confused. Is it an 02 GT like you said in the first post, or is an 02 OB limited? PS. Most of my experience in these matters are from up in your neck of the woods. Its even worse here in TX
  15. Clear the codes and drive for a bit. See if any new ones pop up.
  16. Dunno if they are straight cut or not.. Have wondered the same thing.. Both of my FT4wd 5 speeds have had whiny first gears. Got better with some decent oil in it. still there though. PS.. bumping late at night on the weekends is not likely to get you much help.. Not too many people on here at that time.
  17. Have you checked your fusible links? You said someone jacked the stereo. Has it run since? If not, I would guess a fuse or fusible link (under the hood by the coolant tank). Otherwise, I would normally guess something like a timing belt.
  18. You don't really need an exploded view of the axle.. You need to just pull the axle and replace it. Less work, less time, less heartache.
  19. If he's going from 3AT to NA manual, the axles are the same. No need to swap.
  20. I used a stock WRX DP when I first put it together. The heatshielding does rub, but the pipe did as well.. even without the shielding on there. I had to heat the bottom bend and bend it down just a hair so it would clear the Xmember
  21. You are correct. It does need the axles in. Unfortunately, I don't think any other axles fit in the XT6 hub. Oh and search n00b!:-p
  22. Turbo, wiring, crossmember, exhaust, sensors.. But yeah, otherwise, real similar;) It can be done, has been done. But you have to really want it.
  23. Mine was like $15 And yes, those are XT6 hub and control arms and stuff
