  1. +1 If it didn't come off of a Subaru, it isn't going to be remotely close Here's a pic of a TD04 flange on a VF7 Uppipe. the measurements are nearly the same for both. One stud is very slightly different.
  2. Where in WA are you? Seems Mark might have had a set of those seats. Speaking of Mark, anyone seen him around?
  3. Magic problem resolutions make me nervous, but it sure is nice sometimes.
  4. Uncivilized hell. Trace it back to where the signal is good, hack the bad chunk out. a little twisting, some solder and a bit of shrink wrap and you're good to go
  5. That front axle looks worked. First thing that might be of temporary assistance it to make sure the castle nut (36mm) on that front axle is tight and hope that it didn't completely destroy the hub. If that nut is not loose, its time for a new axle and probably a decent junkyard hub. if you are reasonbly handy with tools, the repair shouldn't take more than an afternoon. EDIT.. nevermind.. That front axles is destroyed. Pop the spring pin out of the DOJ side and drive it like that if you must (RWD).. Be sure to leave the stub in the hub or the car flat out will not roll...Personally, I would just look for a new axle
  6. Did you connect the green diagnostic connectors before setting the timing?
  7. 87 3AT isn't smart enough to know the difference.. Only necessary transmission wiring magic to be done is the bypassing of the neutral safety switch.

  9. Glad it was found! May I make the suggestion that you maintain posession of the car until they settle with you on it? Might be in your best interest. Troublesome insurance settlement vehicles occasionally have a tendancy to disappear. And older subaru valuation is often troublesome.
  10. If the tranny (auto) in the good car is ok, just leave it there and swap motors/motor harnesses. Or you could put the turbo stuff on the SPFI shortblock. Then you wouldn't even have to swap harnesses. The FT4wd auto has its own TCU, so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, when going from turbo to non turbo I don't think you have to change the crossmemeber. Only if you are swapping the other direction.
  11. What he said. In addition, the flashing lights on the charger..No real way to know what they mean from here. Each charger does things a little differently as far as display goes. For example, mine has meters, but no lights at all.
  12. I have 4 plugs in the general area you describe (I don't have the diagnostic plugs there since my car is a turbo.. they're under the dash) What I have is 2 white plugs that go to my locking center diff.. its the same setup if you have pushbutting 4wd/5 speed. I have a black plug and a white plug that go nowhere. The car used to be an automatic, so that may explain it, but I don't seem to remember that they went anywhere before the conversion either. http://76.183.255.137/pics/wires.jpg Its not the best pic.. its from my phone.. But its huuuuuge, so beware
  13. Just saw this. It was attached to the 'welcome' thread. No wonder it never got any replies. You get this handled?
  14. So if I told you I was a mechanic that always got As in English would you not like me anymore? Figure out that PM thing and get ahold of me. I'll get you the manuals you need. *hint - PM instructions are in the post above mine;)
  15. I'm confused Are you looking for pics of the downpipe or the turbo? I used a wrx downpipe when I first put my TD04 on. Don't know how length compares though. The WRX DP is a two piece unit compared to the EA82 1 piece. Besides the Legacy turbo and WRX pipe is so much larger than the stock EA82 stuff, its not like it would make any sense to try to connect the two.
  16. Would help to know what fuel system and such you have. Under the hood of my 87 is a turbo and intercooler among other things.. But that probably isn't very helpful. But here's a pic anyway. This is an older pic, but it shows the area you are asking about. Is your car auto or 5 speed? 2wd or 4wd? You will get the best answers if you actually give info
  17. Thats right, you guys got a slightly different configuration. The US model is only 111-115 (depending on the year) I'm personally not convinced that the NA EJ22 is worth the effort. But thats just me.
  18. Speaking from experience rick>?:-p Personally, I have never blown a head on an EA82T. Nor a Head gasket (the one I got that came with a blown HG doesn't count.) That said, I have grenaded almost every other part of the motor at least once.
  19. I have it as well.. Can be had from my FTP. Let me know if you still need it.
  20. Every EA71 'EA82' car I have seen has been carb'd
  21. My wagon is about to receive its 4th motor in just under 4 years. It has caused broken hands, bleeding digits and marital strife. It has been the butt of new school owners jokes... until they hear it. When running, it goes pretty quickly, handles like its on rails and can be parked almost anywhere. I love my wagon.
  22. Unfortunately, some of the early Legacies did have air ride.
