? Given that the height from oil pan to the top of the manifold is about the same between the EZ30 and the EJ25, I would be curious to see ho wthe center of gravity would be raised. I could see how it could possibly be moved forward. But hardly enough to effect handling in day to day driving. That said, I still think it isn't worth it

The truth about sway bars....
calebz replied to TurboXT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The truth is, with my coilovers and 20mm sway bars, my wagon handles like a friggin go kart Without the bars.. its not dangerous, but there is noticeably more body roll. -
Yeah.. umm.. no.. If your car has turbo heads and an SPFI intake, I absolutely guarantee you it is not out romping around town on test drives The difference in the AC bracket? could be the heads are from a different year, from a car without AC, could be carb heads (pretty much interchangeable with SPFI heads), could be that the mechanic can't find his rump roast with two hands and a flashlight.

You seriously need to consider a new mechanic. After all the stuff he fed you about your tranny.. Now this. BTW, in an EA82, the static compression is influenced directly by the pistons. the volume of the heads is the same across the board.

stop light woes,what the heck?!
calebz replied to El Toro's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Mine that constantly. I pulled the stop bulbs and found the contacts were worn and corroded. I replaced the bulbs and cleaned the contacts with a small pick.. problem solved -
I have a TD04 and wrx IC in my 87 wagon. Its a lot of fun:D Search for TD04 here and in the retrofitting forum and you'll find at least 3-4 of us that have done it.

How do you make 2nd fan come on continually?
calebz replied to Camelwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
IIRC, the thermoswith on the radiator switches the ground to control when the fan turns off and on.. I installed a 2 row radiator and wired the second fan up to a relay so it comes on with the key. That keeps me running right around 190 degrees, or 2-3 degrees below stock specs (this is in TX heat and humidity) -
I couldn't get the right adapter kit to save my life. What I ended up doing whas getting a 3/4 inch T fitting from home depot.. putting it inline in one of the heater hoses, then installing the temp probe into the top part of the T.. worked like a charm:D BTW: thanks to 78turbobrat for the plumbing idea.. he thought of it

RE: brakes.. Something to keep in mind, bleeding just the fronts will do no good. Subarus are to be bled in an X pattern (front left, then rear right.. then vice versa) Try that out and see what happens.

What year 9000? The subaru transmission mounts in the car in the fashion of a rwd car. the saabs are transverse, and the motor actually sits partially on top of the transmisssion. In order to use the subaru 4wd system, it would require using a rwd engine configuration as well, which would pretty much preclude the use of the sab motor. that said, the 95/96/sonnett platform takes a subaru motor pretty readily, but again, using a 4wd transmission present some interesting challenges (for different reasons.)

PEOPLE THAT ARE LOOKING WILL LOOK IN THE MARKETPLACE!!

Its an old car. You can probably consider it totaled. Bright side is, last subaru I had totalled (for similar damage) I got a decent check from the insurance company and bought the car back for $25 I'll call again tomorrow about that turbowagon. I was thinking about buying it for myself anyway. Perhaps we can work some sort of deal out so you won't have to be out of a car long.

How long you been saving that one up Justin?

Patrick, I have part of the the 89 FSM in PDF format that I can set up for you to download if you want. Should have what you want in it.

'88 RX and 7wk Siberian Husky Pics!
calebz replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You referring to that vicious wolf thing that threatens to eat me every time I'm over? I love that dog. Anything that is husky, shepherd, lab or any mix of the three is ok in my book. -
Yup, I ran an 87 SPFI disty in my 87 MPFI turbowagon for about a year, until it started exhibiting symptoms very similar to what the original poster has going on. I swapped it out for another junkyard SPfi dizzy and haven't had a problem since (well, not a distributor related problem anyway.. plenty of other problems of my own making :-p )
