  1. Thanks I'll see what I can do. North Texas is a little lacking in scenery, but I'm sure I can find something. What you don't like my garage thats piled with crap?
  2. Alright already.. Jeez.. being brad's pet mod sure is demanding work.
  3. Good place to start is here... Then on to this... And this... End result is this. Sprigs run $50-$100 depending on where you get them. Only real modifications needed are a little grinding on a piece of the front strut.. $.99 for a grinding disc for my angle grinder. A spring compressor is a good thing to have to take the original springs off, but there are other ways to do it. I always use the compressor because they can be rented at autozone for nothing. I'm sure Brad's write up will be more in depth than mine, but that should get you started.
  4. MBC goes on that little vacuum line that goes to the wastegate
  5. Not sure I understand... Styles DID lower his.....And since you already know that, your best bet may be to look at how he did it;)
  6. I too had my electric fan quit working. It was the thermoswitch on the radiator that caused it. I pondered tossing a switch in the mix, but nixed that idea for the same reasons you don't like it.. I forget things. So instead, as a quick fix I wired in a new circuit and relay so the fan comes on with the key.. I found it actually works quite well that way and haven't found a good reason to go back to the original configuration.
  7. If the resistor pack dies, you should still have the highest speed, as it doesn't run through a resistor like the other speeds do. My vote is for mouse and/or dead fan.. Easy fix.
  8. not sure yet. I have a few other things to deal with before a real test drive can be had. I'm not the only one here that has these installed though. Perhaps Will or Brad can chime in about ride quality.
  9. Narrowband will give you a general idea, but its not really any good for tuning.
  10. The best way I have found to get the seals out is with a small automotive pick. I have a snap on set that has 3 picks.. one is just a small straight point, the other has a little wave and the third is a small pointed hook.. I use the straight one and tap a small hole into the seal. The use the hooked one to pull it out.
  11. If the XT is a turbo and a manual, it uses the same axles as the RX
  12. Welcome to the board. enjoy your stay here. You seem to have already acquainted yourself with one of our most valuable resources (ed).
  13. The hitachi, if in good tune, is not the evil that a lot of people make it out to be. A 650 on a mildly tuned 350 (5.7L) is a good choice. I would teld to think a 650 on a 1.8L soob would be a bit of an overkill situation.
  14. Unless they are absolutely destroyed, $500 CDN is a great deal for the pair. Do it. The cooling issue could be as serious as a head gasket or cracked head. Or it could be as simple as a crapped out electric fan, clogged radiator or stuck thermostat. Any water in the oil? Oil in the water? Smoke signals from the tailpipe?
  15. The 4wd wagon shock/spring combo is the tallest available. Beyond that, you run the risk of dealing with camber issues. I was able to use Peugoet 14s with 185/75/14s on them. Looked better and gave me a little extra ground clearance with no lift and norubbing/
  16. Nope. You may have to pull some trickery on the cruise unit if you want your cruise control to function though.
  17. Last time I saw it it was covered up.. In hiding almost. Would love to see it running and driving.
  18. Ed, I broke it up into steps. Simple format change. No content change. If its ok by you, then thats great. If you would like it done differently, let me know and I'll either change it or remove it and let you post it how you want. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=77
  19. I'm sure it will.. I just moved it 'as-is' at the time.. It was late and I didn't want to lose it again:D
  20. I just submitted it to the USRM for you. It should be available for every one now. BTW.. thanks for showing me how to change my first soob axle;)
  21. I can't imagine that the 85-86 EA82T knock sensor is too terribly different. You could always take this opportunity to upgrade to a Saab APC setup:D
