  1. Really? Source of info? Dyno or spec sheets?
  2. USDM EA82T puts out ... 85-86 = 111hp 87+ = 115hp However, I notice you are not in the US..EDM EA82T I have been told is 136hp
  3. TD04 - Done WRX IC - Done 5 Lug - Done Auto to manual swap - Done LSD - Done WRX exhaust - Half done Turbo timer - Done 16 inch wheels - Done RX accessories - Half done Adjustable coilovers - Done MBC - Done I'm most of the way there
  4. lol.. funy you mention the tranny.. whenI did my LSD, I also installed the 5speed with locking center diff.. I had already done the auto to manual conversion a year prior, so I didn't have much to deal with.. Its not too hard at all.. jUst remember to get the pedal box too.
  5. Yup, will bolt right in. I have an LSD from an 88 turbowagon in my 87.. easy swap
  6. What I learned in school years ago is that the weight of gasoline varied between manufacturers.. But averaged out at about 6.25 pounds per gallon.
  7. on the 87+, you can run it with the line from the pressure side to the wastegate as well.. That simply bypasses the factory controller, which is non adjustable and exists specifically to melp make sure the car sees full boost under all sorts of air pressure conditions.
  8. Only thing I see that I would be concerned about is the 90 going into the TB.. not detrimental though. That IC looks great. You are an absolute pimp and have inspired a number of ideas for me.
  9. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm not well versed in the TurboXS controllers. But I can tell you that the stock controller does not need to be disabled. Its purpose is to allow full boost under varying conditions and elevations. (read : varying ambient air pressure)
  10. Turning the big knob in (to the right) should raise the boost, it puts the spring under more compression and requires more pressure on the ball to push the spring back. Opposite affect by turning it to the left. Is it possible the MBC has been installed backward?
  11. That would acyually probably be your best bet for reliability of the EA81 and the reliability of the SPFI system. I wouldn't worry about the CR too much the SPFI motor is 9.5:1 as it is. I can't imagin that even with the EA71 pistons that the EA81 would be much higher than that. I say go for it.
  12. Sorry bud, Didn't see this until now:o Yes, when I had it set up for recirculation, It simply 'blew off back into the intake silencer. anywhere between the MAF and the turbo inlet is fine. It just so happens that that intake silencer thingy was ideal for the parts I had. Since I have switched IC's and Valves, I get to start that part of the plumbing all over again. Yay
  13. What about an IC sprayer. it sure helped mine in this nast TX heat
  14. If you disconnect the hill holder, you must put a spring on the clutch fork so it can return to its 'parked' position when the clutch is out. Without that return spring, its possible that there was enough constant pressure to damage the clutch over the course of 500 miles. Thats the info I got when I did my 5 speed/no hillholder conversion..
  15. USRM is your friend. A number of people have spent a lot of time putting together the info in the Repair/mod manual. Using it would be the best sign of appreciation. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?c=1
  16. Skip, I checked the motor a bit closer. Its definitely an NA MPFI Motor. So that breather must be common to all of the MPFI motors, Turbo an NA alike. Bucky, I know what you mean about missing out on good stuff. Recently a guy put 2 big engine analyzers up there.. 4 gas testers and everything. I responded less than 10 minutes after they went up and they were gone . On the other hand, I did recently pick up a 150 year old piano from someone on there that couldn't find any other way to get rid of it . Its also been an excellent tool for cleaning out the garage. things like a car seat my daughter has outgrown, a tent my wife and I used to use when it was just the two of us (a little cramped for three people and two dogs). Thankfully, my wife's job requires her email to be open on one of the screens on her desk 90% of the time, not much gets by her.
  17. Side note: For those that don't know what freecycle is, Go to www.freecycle.org and check them out. Its a great way to get rid of some of the useful stuff you have in the attic but haven't used in years. I recently put up a bunch of computer parts that ended up going to a school for training purposes.. all sorts of neat stuff.. /hijack
  18. Good question Skip. And one for which I have no answer. The nuances of the NA MPFI are foreign territory to me. I have zero experience with them. I will have to look into that. I will also take a closer look now that its light out, to see if there is an oil feed line for the turbo. I didn't see it in the dark when I looked last night, but it is entirely possible that I missed it.
  19. 150AU is an excellent deal if its in good shape.!
  20. Wife sent me an email from the local Freecycle group: My wife responded immediatley, bless her heart. I had to work, so 78TurboBrat was kind enough to pick it up and deliver it to me. Its in the garage now, and oh what a score. Its from an 87 XT. Non-turbo MPFI. Spider intake . Don't know how many miles are on it. It broke one of the timing belts a while back. Kid took it to a mechanic. Mechanic said : Borked timing belt = bad motor. Kid paid him to put a new motor in. Kid has since sold the car. Parents have been storing the motor for months. Tried to sell it in the local classifieds, but there is no market for old soobs here. So off to freecycle it went. My wife saw the email, emailed the guy back and away we went Motor is in unbelievably excellent shape. Appears to have been resealed recently or have low miles. Has very little in the way of the common EA82 oil leaks. inside of the throttlebody is extremely clean and the oil even looks good. Now I don't know what to do with it. Do I use the intake manifold on the motor I just put together? (which is finally in and running).. It is definitely an upgrade over the stock wagon manifold. Better throttle cable and TB placement for use with the TD04 and WRX IC I already have on the car...Or do I find another car to put it in (EA82 cars are somewhat rare in this are) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photo...&sort=1&cat=500
  21. I had one fail about a year and a half ago. The car would run for a bit, then miss and stall and not restart for abotu 20 minutes. The ignitor was apparently overheating. 10 minute disty swap and it was all better. So what happened Will?
