  1. Yeah.. everyone of them except mine.. The engine lasted almost exactly 1 year longer than the rack. Its good excersize though:lol:
  2. Sorry, not really something to consider. The 88 from the original post and the 91 from the last post don't come with carbs. The PCV doing weird stuff on offramps is a known issue however.
  3. Ok.. standard questions.. What car, what year, what fuel system....(last question helpful for directing you to the proper way to deal with the light coming on) ECS light is coming on because there is an error code in the ECU. read the code, determine the source, fix the problem
  4. I've done it the wrong way a number of times then. On chevies, fords, chryslers and subarus... Haven't killed one yet.. Guess I'm just tempting fate. BTW, to avoid confusion, Its Flexplate.. Not flywheel... No flywheel on an auto
  5. Yup.. what he said ^^ Just did the same thing a couple weeks ago.. 1500 miles later, no problems
  6. Theres nothing besides the stock turbo that will bot in without mods.
  7. Which fuel system do you have, SPFI or MPFI turbo If its SPFI, the green connectors are under the hood , drivers side firewall If its MPFI turbo, they are under the dash, to the right of the fuse box.
  8. The inlet side should be very close to fitting, The exhaust side looks like the standard Legacy/wrx pattern. Would require a different downpipe. Also, if its anything like using a VF11 or a TD04, the flow will be so much better that 8 PSI on that will probably pull harder than 12 psi on your old VF7.. 18 PSI would likely turn your EA81 into a ball of melted slag.
  9. I dig the vents.. extra airflow is always a good thing.
  10. My wagon was an auto, I put a single range Full Time 4wd 5 speed with diff lock in it.. pretty much straight bolt in.. one day I ill hook up the reverse lights..
  11. They're cheaper there because there are so many. The NW is filled with mountains and outdoor type people. Subaru naturally sells well in such a market. Combine that with the fact that 90% of the areas there don;t salt the roads when it snows and you get long lived, cheap, easily available soobs. 6 of mine have been WA cars.. one was an AK car and the difference was pretty obvious.
  12. Aftermarket sunroofs leak a HUGE percent of time. I suggest avoiding them at all costs, but thats just me. Most aftermarkets do not come with drain tubes. Without drain tubes, any water that gets in just stays there and causes rust or drips down on your head.
  13. It would have to be pretty damn special to be worth $500 with no motor. Thats not me being a cheapass, thats just realism. Blue book on a running driving 84 2wd auto wagon is only about $500 A year older, no motor and possibly one of the worst transmissions subaru ever made does not make it worth $500 as is unless you are a collector going for a complete restore. If the seller won't budge, pass. Theres better out there. Lots.
  14. Most were turbo, some were SPFI, none were carbed unless someone swapped a carb motor in.
  15. $50 As is $150 with the other motor thrown in GL-10 = quirky old school digidash = trouble 2wd = a lot more work Auto = more liklihood of trouble Overall, a $50 car (for comparison, my father in law sold his 85 GL D/R wagon in good shape with a new clutch in grand lake CO for $500)
  16. YOu have to change pretty much everything except the T-belt tensioners and the oil pump. But if you have it torn down that far, you should replace/rebuild them anyway. I am in the iddle of doing this exact thing right now.. just stripped the carb block last night and will be cleaning and prepping for reassembly tonight Miles Fox has also done this with apparent success
  17. Only way to get more nuts from a 3AT is to shift it manually or replace it Welcome to the board and congrats on your score!
  18. Hmmm... No. Sorry dude you swung way wide on that one. Reread the original post. Its clear he's referring to trim lines within a single body style. European market L-series cars are NOT referred to as a Loyale, even by subaru.
  19. Is the car an automatic or manual. I have no idea about the automatics, but on the manual pushbutton 4wd trannies, there is an electrically activated vacuum solenoid that controls 4wd switching. its located on the drivers side strut tower and can be heard to click when switching.
  20. We have the DL, GL and GL-10 Then after 1989, they became the Loyale The GL came with the high roof as an option, but there aren't a lot of them in the US A large number of the GL-10s were turbocharged DL is bottom of the line. There was so much mixing and matching of parts done that its just crazy. Just the subject of what a GL-10 came equipped with has generated a number of multipage discussions in the past year. This is going to get very long and confusing If we compare the whole USDM L- line to the EDM L- line..
  21. Try the buy 'n' sell.. great place to find old soobs around seattle
  22. heres a pic. I'm sure if this stays on the first page long enough, corky will chime in. I did a search for 'ultimate RX' and at least 10 different topics came up about puitting EJ motors into EJ cars. Its been done a few times on this board, and a whole bunch of times by the Oz folks.. just look around a little, its all here
