Lower compression - less power?
Scrub2k replied to viceversa's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well i dont know if it can or will give you a higher reading or anything but that might make a difference since metal expands when it is hot and contracts when it is cold, but try getting a compression reading when its hot other than that i would suggest replacing the head gaskets maybe one of the heads. -
Need to restrict airflow through raidator... Ideas?
Scrub2k replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Cover it all or most of it up and then drive it and see how hot it gets, and slowly cut some of the cardboard away until it runs right at the temp that you want it at. -
It Was Deleted, Either by a Moderator, or by Miles Fox.

Repairing a stripped Spark Plug hole
Scrub2k replied to syphon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Have Heard of it being done with a HeliCoil, but fortunatly ive never had to do it, i cant think of any reason that it wouldent work, im sure someone around here has done something to this nature. -
Only Thing that comes to my mind first off is that you only say that the boost gauge reads this much you dont mention if you can feel any noticeable lose of power, or anything like that if you dont feel any los of power than maybe your boost gauge took a crap? if you can feel the loss of power than like was allready said check your turbo side exhaust manifold, and check to make sure that your wastegate is working correctly, also maybe one of your cats is clogged (I Think this can Cause the Boost to Act Differently) Let us know what you find.
-
The Oil Gauge is a Electronic Unit, but im thinking that if i remove the oil pressure gauge and replace that with my boost gauge it would work good, dunno if it will work, but can't hurt to try right?

Thats Exactly What i was Gonna Mention about the Montero's/Raiders, I Think im gonna Pull the Pod out of a Raider at the yard and see if i could mount that in my wagon, i think they have a few raiders at the junk yard here, ill take a look later on when im there today.

The HKS is the Same thing that Other People have done and ive read about people using that also, but not getting efficent or effective results, the subarus just dont agree with having this system bypassed, this is one system designed by subaru that they dident want us to get around, but i say give it a try and let us know what kind of results that you get.

LOL Caleb, xforxlifex Basically Right now Noone(that i know of) has an Effective way of bypassing it, Im Running My Car at 12-13psi and i rarely hit the fuel cut. Once I get the tranny in my car im hoping to do some R&D and try to come up with my own way of bypassing the fuel cut, Sorry that there isent much help as of yet but your not the only one waiting for some answers. Off Topic: Caleb i Finished your MBC I Will Send it Out Tomorrow Morning Before i goto work
-
Well the Other Night (before the tranny went out) my i was driving the car around and i stopped to put gas in it, and when i stopped everything was working fine, when i got back in and turned the headlights on all the dashlights went out/never came on, the Speedo, and all the little lights on the dash are out, but if i turn the dimmer knob all the way up i can get the speedo back but thats it, nothin else works, ive checked all the fuses, and stuff anyone have any idea what it could be?

If it Consumes Coolant, It Most likely is Leaking it into the Cylinder, Which is normal with a Blown HG or a Cracked Head, Check your Oil and See if its a Murky Brown Color which happens when you mix the coolant and Oil, Replace Both head Gaskets and Check that head for any Large Cracks and Go From There, Good Luck. -
Is There Anyway i Can Check my CV's? Ive Never Replaced them before.....so this would be a new one to me any help would be appriciated.

Driving Home From PickNPull Today, I Had a Weird Sound It was kinda like a Thud, and then it started Pulling To the Right Pretty Inconsistently And Pulling Hard, When i Was Almost Home i was Going Around a Right hand Corner and Decided to Get on it just to see what it would do, and it Started Shaking, and Made That Same "thud" Type Sound Only Repetedly Until i got off the Gas, so i limped it home and now i need to figure out whats wrong. Im Wondering if it Could be Maybe a CV Joint? maybe an axle? i Looked Underneath and saw nothin Unusuall so anyone else got any ideas????
