  1. Glad you were able to make the trip. Need a few more people if we do it again. Christopher definetly wants another Wagon now. Really impressed with yours.
  2. XT6 shifter bolted right in, no mods needed to tunnel opening. Center console is from an '86 FWD Sedan. I rolled the top of the shifter boot down some so the pistolgrip shifter handle fit/looks cleaner. Plan is to swap the interior over to the Brown from the '92 parts Wagon. Have the hi-rise portion for it. Just not sure right now if I want the complete setup from that Wagon, or if I'll do a mix-n-match with some paint applied. Thinking a Black console would be best though.
  3. I'll let him get on this here laptop and post about the trip over. Hope he has a good one. Be another 3 hours before he gets here. Looking forward to meeting Tom, and seeing this here Wagon in person.
  4. 370+ miles out of the tank of go-juice, was sitting just above the empty mark after the trip home from work yesterday. Son has put more fuel in it as of last night. Thinking that's not to shabby for mileage. Running the XT6 FT4WD trans, needing some frontend work and an alignment. Plus, I haven't been to stingy with the go pedal here lately. Son took off with it at lunch yeaterday, I was sitting outside the shop. Yeah, it definetly needs a different muffler under it. Little more bark to the exhaust note would be
  5. Local parts store should be able to do the o-rings. Every connection has an o-ring, so be sure you get enough.
  6. Got a shade over 300 showing now. Just,, under the 1/4 mark. Thinking there's enough to cover the round trip for work tomorrow. But,,, that depends on if Son does another "midnight rondevous" with his former fiancee or not. Deny's it, but the odo don't lie.
  7. Also, be sure to route new cable correctly in the engine bay. It goes under the steering column and heater hoses. Seen a few that were installed over those parts. Puts added stress on cable, and it won't last long.
  8. Pulling the ignition switch works. Had to do that after the Wife jammed the wrong key in the lock cylinder. Also, pull the passenger door lock cylinder. It has the key code on it. Take that to the locksmith.
  9. Christopher filled the gas tank this past Sunday evening. 3 round trips to work, at 64 miles each, and some in-town running around. Had 200 some miles showing on the odo at half tank when we pulled into the drive yesterday. I'm liking that......
  10. In your case, it may be a wiring harness issue. ECU is looking for a certain Ohm reading from the EGR solenoid. If solenoid is known to be good, then it's a wiring harness issue. Can't say where though... Most likely, it's in a connector somewhere. Corrosion ,,,, doesn't take much to affect electrical circuits.....
  11. Okay. I give up...... Been going back thru the FSM and checking everthing I can find pertaining to issue of "CEL" being on. NADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead::banghead:
  12. Well, according to the checks in the FSM, I have a faulty ECU. Actually 2 of them if I understand it right. Both ECU's set the CEL, no code other than 5 for model designation. Troubleshooting chart indicats that ECU may be detecting wrong trans, and to check for continuty between pins 30 + 32 on the bodyside connector. No wire for pin 32, which is for AutoTrans detection. ???!!?!????!!!??? Other work done; Installed A/C compressor just to get better belt alignment on Alt, belt was squeeling due to Alt being slightly crooked. Better now.... Changed sparkplugs with those out of the EA81 engine, they're not that old. Plugs out of this EA82 were nasty. Dark Rust Red color to them. Engine idles smoother now. Thinking I have a bad carrier bearing mount. Hear a rubbery sqeak at times, coming from the backend. I can move the driveshaft sideways at the carrier. Not good...
  13. That was an option for the XT6, but they are as rare as hen's teeth to find one.
  14. Do know, that this EA82 runs much better than the EA81 I had in there. Did a couple hard runs up thru the gears coming home from work yesterday. Had it in the upper 5 grand in rpm's a couple times and it still wanted to go. The EA81 wouldn't do that. I've also noticed a difference in the exhaust note over the EA81. Really thinking I need a different muffler than the stock XT one under it now. Need something that has a bit of a growl to it. Not loud, just a mellow growl. Got other things to spend money on 1st though.
  15. I recall MilesFox having simular issues in one of his after installing a stereo. Was getting a backfeed some how. Not sure on what wires he tied into, or how he fixed it. Been awhile.
  16. I've swapped ECU's already. Both units are the Black case type, Have the Silver case one out of the '92, may swap that in just to see. Going to be tutoring Christopher in auto repair on his '97 LaSaber the next few days. It's either popped the intake gasket, or a headgasket. Haven't diagnoised it yet. But got to get one of his vehicles back on the road. His '91 2500 Chevy blew the trans last month.
  17. That is what I understand about 5 continuos flashes, system clear/model deignation. But why the hay is my "CEL" on then? Hooked battery up this AM, drove to the store for milk. 3/4 mile down the road, "CEL" is on again....................................... No extra cash this week, but thinking I should get an oil/filter change and fresh ignition stuff on it. Little bit of HLA tick at times, also noticed stumbly idle at other times. No clue as to when stuff was done last, so...........
  18. Well, it appears that I don't have a code 55 after all. It does give 5 flashes, then 5 flashes, p-a-u-s-e,,,,,,, repeat. The flashes look to be the same duration with each set, but there is no "pause" between the sets. I watched the flashes for a good 2 minutes lastnight, and that was the only thing shown. While I had the test connectors hooked, I checked timing. 32* BTDC. WHAT? No wonder it was spark knocking like crazy. Disty was were it was when I got the car, so PO had been driving it like that. Reset timing to 20*, shut it off and disconnected the battery. We shall see how it does on the trip to work this AM.
  19. Yep, good Old Brady Bunch here! ! Christopher should be here, Rich should be able to make an appearance. Previous weekend scheduled probally wouldn't of worked for him either. Had a "female friend" up from Colorado. Known that one for years.... Ain't the 1st weekend they've spent together.
  20. You have to clear the codes after doing repairs. Unhooking the battery for an hour or so should do that. There is a way of doing it with the diagnostic plugs, but you'd have to read up on that in the Repair Section. I don't know it enough to write it here. 5 quick flashes are for model designation, and are not a trouble code. Mine is definetly giving me a code 55. 5 short-5 long, pause, repeat..... Nice looking Wagon...
  21. Was thinking it was a greenhouse type structure, mainly from seeing the fan openings on the end in one of the pics. Still,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  22. The Family of Tom R., be here; Heather Lynn, Daughter, 30, proud Momma of my, (as of today), 2 year old Grand-Daughter Eden Jolee. Richard Thomas, Son, 29, still alive and breathing. Taking names, kicking backsides as needed. Rebekah Jean, Daughter, 27, recently married to one heck of a good guy. All from my 1st marriage. Heather and Becky have birthdays coming up in September. Christopher Thomas, Son, 20. Product of the meld Del and I have.... Jennifer Lynn, Step-Daughter, 35. Micheal Thomas, Step-Son, 37. Del's children from her 1st marriage. We have 4 Grand-Son's, 2 Grand-Daughter's between them. Jen has 3 boys, 1 girl. Mike has one each.
  23. Each time I look thru your posts on the BRAT's, I find myself thinking I need a building like you have. My 2 car garage just isn't big enough. Of course, that would just mean "more stuff" accumilated though......
  24. Really didn't see that before. Del is not a he, "she" be my Wife. I will not tell her about this. That way, you will live to go back home after your visit here.
  25. Made the trip to Horton, Mi. and back with no issues. Roughly 50 mile round trip. Temp gauge settled in just below the 1/2 mark, so that's better. Octane booster helped with the spark knock some. I'll pull code during lunch today, see what that's about. May even try to get that resistor wired in for the 55 code. Will say that there is quite the difference in driving it now with the EA82 vs the EA81. Seems to have more "get up and go" now, even with the spark knock happening.. Christopher enjoyed driving it on the trip yesterday. Was having problems finding gears, but he doesn't drive a manual that often. Said he might beat Del in the taking of the Wagon from me. Was a good visit with Molly and those that showed.
