for exact info to your question, you will have to phone the customs people AT the border ....generally, duties if charged are always much less going into the States and in most cases none at all for personal usage...my experience over the years on both sides of the border, is such that when bringing items to be mailed or shipped , for example, a transmission or motor must always be of a Personal or non-business nature, in fact anything...once they smell that a profit is going to be made you must go thru a "broker"..also if you buy to much (left up to there interpretation) for your own personal use, you might automatically to deemed a "commercial enterprise" and will have to prove otherwise just to bring in your recent purchases

Thats what I thought until I changed the tranny oil on my 01 outback..the plug looks identical to the oil drain plug which of course is not magnetic..so, if the tranny plug is not magnetic, then I am asumming that the last owner exchanged it,(highly unlikely)... just maybe, there is a magnet inside the pan which needs to be cleaned every so often,(contrary to just drain and flush) or does the external filter take the place of not having a magnet anywhere...would the internal parts of the tranny that "wear and tear" be made of non-magnetic material

Saving money or making money is never boring,..since I live Canada, 1 mile from the US border I do almost all my purchases from the States and have the parts delivered to a pick-up address in michigan solely for this purpose as so many others do, thereby avoiding any other extra costs except shipping..or take a holiday to the States for 48hrs and bring back $400 duty free(each person)..no smuggling involved

I had that problem when I forgot (comparing to other car manuf.) that the subi dist. turns counterclock wise

if the shields have been trimed for subaru to make more money...does this mean I need to be even more careful about going thru certain driving situations like heavy rains which produce at times a lot of water on the streets(no problem ever with my older cars)...this might explain why the previous owner although consciencous about his driving habits had the front brake rotors turned twice with only 40k mi on the car...I don't think, my wife is going to like this..another thing to be aware of ??....I think she has been watching that commercial to many times..you know, the one with the high heels...jumps into car..pushes button to start..mats the gas pedal...drives off without a concern on her mind since the car she is driving will Take Care of itself..

it makes sense what you have to say above but tempting to think otherwise when you are quoted $259 (subaru boxed) for the front O2 and then online get it for $55 (Bosch) ... I hate to pay sometimes 2- 4 times more for the seemly same item just because it falls out of the dealer box...when enough time goes bye even the parts that presently pass thru the dealer will become more inferior..for ex: with my Older subi's or vw's the parts coming from the dealers now don't even come close to the once original

I can't help you to the same extent as myself because I purchased the bearings directly thru "canadian bearings"...you come in to there store with the sample or mearsurements and thus they have a bearing for you... (everything under the sun)... when looking at importecparts.com .. part # K8000-52105 .. $15 each .. sealed bearing..hope this helps -

For those that are interested, for a little more money, the bearing company "NTN" makes a "sealed" bearing...further protection against dust etc. -
before putting the wheel on make sure that the mating surfaces are clean..I think almost any honest mechanic will tell you that they have had a wheel or two come off a customers care...alloy wheels may look nice, but also involve more work and awareness to be safe for yourself and to others...invest in a torque wrench
