  1. I have a 95 nissan pickup as a daily driver. I wanted to replace the truck with something else. I had been keeping the outback sports in mind because I don't mind the styling, they're relatively new, it has four seats, and I still have some luggage capacity with the wagon.
  2. I picked up a 1997 Impreza OBS Wagon on ebay last week. I flew into Chicago, picked it up, and drove it home on Friday. It drove fine. It needs a little cleaning, and stuff, but a good platform. I started tearing into things yesterday. There was a stereo system installed in it. It was installed so poorly....I pulled it out, and just kept going. The interior is gutted right now. I'm going to clean everything up and put it back together. Here are some pics http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/97obw/ Josh
  3. You did more then blow out the strut. The top mount is loose, or the nut holding the strut to the top mount is loose, or something else is loose. Do not drive the car until you have it fixed.
  4. The TPS should not need any adjustment. What exactly did you do to "adjust" it?
  5. I'd recommend clearing the codes and seeing what codes come back. That should help you diagnose whether the problem is just a random fault, or an actual problem.
  6. I don't have a list of the codes, however the cruise control won't work with a dead speedo.
  7. Auto or manual trans? Probably one of the speed sensors took a dump. Is there a check engine light on? The car is not going to run right in a lot of ways until the speed sensor is working.
  8. All the first gen legacies have one. The impreza was introduced as a stripped down "base" model in comparison to the Legacy, therefore the earlier to mid/late 90's imprezas didn't have some of the nicer features that the first gen legacies had.
  9. Thanks for the info. I found some stuff on nasioc too. I'll sort through it all when I get some time. Josh
  10. The 255 lph Walbro pumps should work fine. You'll just need to get the adapter kit for your bug.
  11. Speaking of OBD2 readers. I now have a post 96 vehicle and can use an OBD2 reader. I'm interested in knowing the extra data available via OBD2 besides just the codes. What are some of the different scan tools/software out there that people have used and like? TIA Josh
  12. I'm going to look at the fuel pump connector wiring. That will say for sure whether it's there or not, but I'm pretty sure there's not one there.
  13. I just bought a 97 and it does not appear to have one....which sucks.
  14. It's probably in the electronics. There are soldered joints in the HVAC unit that crack and cause intermittant issues. The unit can be removed and fixed if you're handy with a soldering iron. Check out the "HVAC butttons don't work all the time" sticky in the body & chassis forum on www.bbs.legacycentral.org for more info & pics. Josh
  15. Can you provide more detail? I'm assuming this is on your 93 legacy correct?
  16. I did this back in 95.....I personally think it's easier to take the handle out. If you drive around with the lock cylinder/door handle out, make sure you don't put down the window. It can bend/pop off some of the metal rods. This happen to me, it's a pain to put back on.
  17. Well....I'm not really sure what would cause a fuel trim error code on one bank. You could try running some seafoam through the fuel system. Anybody else have any ideas?
  18. The trans codes really don't contain any info on the final drive ratio. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/engine_%26_trans_decode.jpg
  19. That sounds right.....but I wouldn't bet large sums of money against it though in case I'm not.
  20. First thing I'd recommend is clearing the codes, driving the car and seeing if the same codes come back. Regarding the fuel level/gauge. Either the sender or wiring is acting up, or your mileage is really bad.
