99 Outback - P1540, P1507 & P500
Legacy777 replied to julianfisher's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'd recommend clearing the codes and seeing what codes come back. That should help you diagnose whether the problem is just a random fault, or an actual problem.

'97 Legacy GT no speedo
Legacy777 replied to murdoc158's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't have a list of the codes, however the cruise control won't work with a dead speedo.

'97 Legacy GT no speedo
Legacy777 replied to murdoc158's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAuto or manual trans? Probably one of the speed sensors took a dump. Is there a check engine light on? The car is not going to run right in a lot of ways until the speed sensor is working.

Low Fuel Light???
Legacy777 replied to jonfit04's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAll the first gen legacies have one. The impreza was introduced as a stripped down "base" model in comparison to the Legacy, therefore the earlier to mid/late 90's imprezas didn't have some of the nicer features that the first gen legacies had.

The 255 lph Walbro pumps should work fine. You'll just need to get the adapter kit for your bug.

Alternatives to the Select Monitor?
Legacy777 replied to porcupine73's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSpeaking of OBD2 readers. I now have a post 96 vehicle and can use an OBD2 reader. I'm interested in knowing the extra data available via OBD2 besides just the codes. What are some of the different scan tools/software out there that people have used and like? TIA Josh

Low Fuel Light???
Legacy777 replied to jonfit04's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm going to look at the fuel pump connector wiring. That will say for sure whether it's there or not, but I'm pretty sure there's not one there.

Legacy777 replied to john in KY's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt should fit as long as they're from the same transmission type.

Ticking Heater Controls
Legacy777 replied to kimokalihi's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's probably in the electronics. There are soldered joints in the HVAC unit that crack and cause intermittant issues. The unit can be removed and fixed if you're handy with a soldering iron. Check out the "HVAC butttons don't work all the time" sticky in the body & chassis forum on www.bbs.legacycentral.org for more info & pics. Josh

Replacing Lock Cylinder 90 Legacy
Legacy777 replied to foxgap's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI did this back in 95.....I personally think it's easier to take the handle out. If you drive around with the lock cylinder/door handle out, make sure you don't put down the window. It can bend/pop off some of the metal rods. This happen to me, it's a pain to put back on.

Wiper delay problem

95' Legacy P0170 & P0120 Codes
Legacy777 replied to kimkathan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell....I'm not really sure what would cause a fuel trim error code on one bank. You could try running some seafoam through the fuel system. Anybody else have any ideas?

Transmission question
Legacy777 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe trans codes really don't contain any info on the final drive ratio. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/engine_%26_trans_decode.jpg

94 Legacy compression test, plug socket size???
Legacy777 replied to romcat's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat sounds right.....but I wouldn't bet large sums of money against it though in case I'm not.

95' Legacy P0170 & P0120 Codes
Legacy777 replied to kimkathan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFirst thing I'd recommend is clearing the codes, driving the car and seeing if the same codes come back. Regarding the fuel level/gauge. Either the sender or wiring is acting up, or your mileage is really bad.

Transmission question
Legacy777 replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have my doubts, but don't have anything to back that up.

Bleeding cooling system on Ej22 swap ea81 turbo car
How is the ea81 radiator setup in comparison to the ej22? Without that bleeder screw on the ej22 radiator, it'd be very tough to get all the air out. Can you tilt the radiator at all?

Intermittent problem with AC
Legacy777 replied to IED's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCan you provide a little more details. Are you wanting the AC to come on, or not? When the system is in Auto, it's going to turn the ac/heater on to maintain a set temperature.

'00OBW 4EAT phase II downshifting
Legacy777 replied to porcupine73's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf you're really close to being near redline, it's possible the TCU will keep the trans from downshifting into 2nd. I would reset the ECU & TCU, and see if anything changes.
