what's up w/ him?
Or maybe his mommy just gave him $50 and he wanted to show it off. When My grandma was selling her house (for $300K+) some little punk kid who thought he was a gangster went up to my mom who was handling the sale and was saying "I want to buy that house! How much do you want? I've got cash right now!"

Um, I don't think I have a hill holder. Are you sure all 4WD manuals have them?

One Tire Wearing Fast
SakoTGrimes replied to cbpicker's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAre you particually fond of turning left going uphill? That's how one of my tires wore out.

Would you drive it?
SakoTGrimes replied to MiniTransAm's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNew tires, good call. But, having a blowout that rips off some chrome trim and somehow dents your fender 500 miles from home with no spare and only $63 is really fun too.

the grand radiator adventure
July 3. I decide to replace those wierd stock clamps on the upper radiator hose with conventional Ideal ones. I get it unscrewed, pull the hose off the radiator, and the pipe sticking out of the rad. looks way too short. Well, about an inch has broken off and lodged in the hose. I'll be damned if I'm going to let a busted plastic thingy ruin my 4th'a July camping trip so I bike it down to Fred Meyer and start sticking pipe shaped things in the broken piece (the idea is to strenghthen it from the inside) I leave with a plastic funnel and some 5 min. epoxy. I get home, clean all parts, scrape up the funnel piece that I Dremeled to the right size, put it inside the broken piece and then put that onto the radiator. I cover it in epoxy then JB Weld an hour later. July 4. I still don't have any fire wood. After 20 hours my makeshift repair is hard enough to use. I reconnect everything and start it up. I'm not seeing any leaks so when the Sub's warmed up I drive off to Jacksonville. I figure since there's lots of trees in Jacksonville there will probably be a few houses with piles of wood in front of them with "free wood" signs. Going about 45 in 4th, 2750RPM, uphill, I try to reach the 55MPH limit, when I feel a sudden loss of power and water/coolant starts gushing out of the hood. Crap. I pull over immediately, the engine is idling low and sputtering (?), and shut it off. Under the hood, my homemade seal broke. All I could do was wait for it to cool off, then loosely put it back on. I let the car idle down the hill and drive very gently through Jacksonville shifting at 1750-2000. I had to stop once and put 1.5 gallons of water in, but I made it home. July 5. The Loyale now has a radiator from a 93 Loyale with METAL whatevers. Yeah, I know I could have summed all that up in 1/4 the space, but that's just what I do.

really nice EA81 wagon.... in a junkyard?
Looking for an EA82 radiator yesterday and I see an early 80s GL just sitting there without any cars piled on top of it. I go to look while the yard guy is pulling my new radiator and the car is way too nice to be junked! approx. 224K miles, dual range 4 speed, manual windows, very nice tan paint (considering it's 20 years old), only a few dents, not missing and body panels. I tried to start it but the key wouldn't move? Engine looked fine, everything else looked fine to me. I have no idea why such a vehicle would be in a yard. Located at Speedway auto wrecking with the pink/purple Dodge van out front on Vilas road in Central Point, OR. Somebody save it! I also found out where the late 70s 4WD woody wagon ended up... about 100M away at Action Auto U-Pull-It. (hasn't been cut up yet)

power(less) windows in loyale
I should have just got off my butt and done it. I was going to throw slices of 'Merican cheese all over my Loyale and post a picture of it here. Anybody get it? I guess it's too late now.

rubber cargo mats for Loyale
Cool, thanks. So, my next question would be: does anybody have an Outback rubber mat for sale cheaper than the $69.95 S. OR Subaru Volvo Mitsubishi wants for it?

rubber cargo mats for Loyale
Does anybody know where I could get rubber or plastic mats that will stay in place to cover the cargo area in my 92 Loyale? I want one to replace all the carpet too, but that's probably not going to happen.

How to f*** up fast
SakoTGrimes replied to kevinrogosch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIve got a really good entering a corner stupid one car accident story: Driving my mulletmobile (hint, it wasn't a Mustang) about 3 years ago at 6AM on a somewhat winding road, I decide to turn off the ignition on a long straight stretch to save gas. This is before I knew starting a car used more gas than idling for a few moments. Anyway, I accidentally turn the key too far into the steering lock position and there's a curve approaching me. I tried to unlock the wheel, but for some reason it will NOT move. So instead of turning I just hit the brakes, although a little late because I still run it into the ditch. I come to a stop, turn off the car, get out, curse my idiocy, inspect for damage, get back in, turn on and drive home. How's that?

Subaru Updated Their JDM Website
SakoTGrimes replied to erik litchy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think the grille looks good on the STi, but I also think they should take a lesson from Dodge which uglied up their line by putting the cross-bar truck grille on everything.

4wheeled the Loyale... for real this time
As far as I know it's stock. Just better tires and little stuff like that.

4wheeled the Loyale... for real this time
Oh by the way, that wheel is about 14 inches off the ground. Naturally, the camera cuts angle degrees and general hardcorreness in half. I smoked the front wheel(s) trying to back out. Time for a new clutch. Got some log-to-the-front-fender damage while in reverse.

2 hours, a winch, lots of pully things and a couple broken things I got down. Thanks to ThreeEyedBandit and Subadoom for the good time.

What kind of tires should I get?
Hey, nothing wrong with Audi. An Audi is 7 spots higher than my Subaru on the cool scale of my "cars Ive driven" list. Yes, I keep track and write them down. That's perfectly normal. Right?
