Why low customer satisfaction?
SakoTGrimes replied to adwolf1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy two cents is that it is because Subaru keeps adding more stuff to the cars, mostly electrical convienence things, and the more stuff you add the more stuff will eventually break and cause other things to break/not work right.

really nice EA81 wagon.... in a junkyard?
I can't believe it...... I jsut went back there to see if I could get it...... they crushed it. To "make room" for 1981 Ford LTDs with no usable parts.

It Idles!!!
Idling is better than braking with your left foot while you keep the engine going with your right.

Diesel + Vanogan + Suby?
I breifly had what I thought was a great idea: VW Vanogan and Subaru engines are interchangable, right? And since Vanogans were availible as a diesel then you could just use the engine from one of those in your old Suby right? Well that idea was shot down when I saw a complete Vanogan diesel engine on eBay and it was an inline-4. I thought they were all flat. Oh well.

manual trannies
Every manual car I've ever driven has never wanted to go directly into reverse. I know there's articles somewhere on the net about why (try howstuffowrks.com). I don't even try R first, I put it into 1st, 2nd, then reverse.

Most reliable Subaru engine?
Thanks folks. Looks like EA81 takes the vote and looks like I have a new thread in the USMB marketplace.

Most reliable Subaru engine?
I know it's kind of apples and oranges, but what do you think is the most trouble free, hardly ever breaks and easy to fix when it does powerplant? My Loyale is dead to me. I want a new car.

noob question about boxer sound
Older Goldwings definately had flat 6s. Honda VFR bikes have extremely rad sounding V4s, and let's not forget BMW's old 700 with a pushrod H2.

Loyale stalled, won't restart
Yes, I hear the pump run. If it IS a computer problem, there's no way my electronicly impaired self will be able to remedy it.

ABS Offroad... yay or ney..
ABS increases stopping distance on gravel.

what do you think......
If you know how to do it right... go for it. There's a guy in my town that drives a Honda S800 (or something of that size) that he shrunk down to about 6 feet. lic. plate = SHORTY

Loyale stalled, won't restart
The plugs it had when I got it were completely filthy, so I changed them for Bosch platinums. I tried to start it again yesterday and it looks like everything that should be spinning is, I have video, but still no start. I haven't yet checked for spark or used starting fluid. update = spark plugs are firing, not fouled, running started motor without spark plugs didn't pump out anything

Loyale stalled, won't restart
I think there was about 6 qt.s total, not 6 in addition to 4.5, I did drain it down to around 4.5. The engine probably ran for 1.5-2.5 minutes before stalling and I've cranked it maybe 25 seconds after that, so if the oil level was high enough for the crank to toss it around, I'm sure the cylinders have some in there. How would it get past the rings though, aren't those pretty close to airtight? And if the oil got all foamed up, could that be fixed with a cleaning-out, or would the pistons already be toast?

Loyale stalled, won't restart
Yep, those plugs were definately RIPed. New platinum Boschs didn't make it start. I'm getting really frustrated with my car now. I'll give it a week and then put it in the marketplace. And yeah I drained the oil to a proper level.

seat covers?
HAHAHA! I use zebra print covers in my Loyale sometimes. Used to be in my girlfriends Sentra and I'm not forkin over $8 for new ones!

Off to Australia for me?
I honestly have no idea what city/area of Australia I will vacation/live in. here's a dumb question: How big is the country? I'm going to get some maps anyway and find out excact distances, but you know, driving 7 miles in New York can take all day. Does it take long to get places usually or is the traffic lighter?
-
Off to Australia for me?
Yes, I definately plan on taking a 90 day'er before permanently moving. I'm speaking with Aussies on several boards about immigration, laws, taxes ,ect.

Weight of different car models
Truck weigh stations aren't accurate in my exp. I weighed my BMW 2002 in at 2200 pounds. The manual says 1340KG, which is about 2900 pounds.
