  1. I recomend a Loyale. Made from 90-94, vaiscally the same as a GL, only they have pushbutton 4WD instead of dual range. All had EA82 SOHC engines. It was the most reliable and civilized car I owned, that is until a cam failed
  2. That's a pocket transaction if I ever saw one. Did I say that aloud?
  3. Good thing it's easy to get out of too. I didn't even plan on wheeling, but that big pile looked too fun not to drive over. I got stuck after just 5 feet maybe. Spent a few minutes digging and airing down and backed out just fine. Yay for the Soob!
  4. I went through every year of Impreza, Legacy, Outback and Forrester on KBB and according to them, none of those cars had a non-turbo 2.0 liter. Is there?
  5. This is just proves that the Subaru star logo is actually a map to help the engineers find their way back home. Strange alein technology.
  6. A 200HP gain is stupid overkill and unreal. There was a twin-turbo fad in the 90s that Nissan in particular liked to use, but twin turbo setups are pretty much obsolete now due to larger, more efficient single turbos. "Twin" in front of turbo does sound wicked cool though.
  7. Beemers and Bimmers alike begin life at 4500RPM (except of coures for the Eta and diesel engines)
  8. Not having sales tax is great, having a pump jockey pump my gas and take money from the driver window is great too, but the cas cap they put on my roof isn't. It's freezing cold, and mud is easy to find, although much of it is on undeveloped private property. Last time I looked at fuel prices, regular was $2.43 and diesel was $2.75. I pay $475 for a 1 bedroom "townhouse", water and garbage paid, but gas heat, electricity, ect. seperate. Decent 3 bedroomss go for $650+. Not sure about VA since I've never been there, but so. OR has plenty of junkies ("Methford"), bums and other lower life forms. Both my mother and step-father are fully schooled, qualified teachers, and after several years of trying, both have given up on getting teaching jobs in the state because the public schools are in the financial crapper (spending money on football, cutting... you know... education) The employment scene sucks, unless you have a good amount of college on your resume.
  9. You should be getting 30+ mpg assuming you drive conservately and the engine is tuned properly.
  10. Ooooh, this one really gets me. Since when isn't it cool to have an 80's Japanese car? 1. Any Dodge made after 1971 belongs in a junk yard. Gas crisis + huge engines + engineers who don't care anymore = crappy product 2. 16 year olds who can't realize that an "old" Subaru is rad are retarted KoRn listening mad-at-my-mommy ricer kids aka (insert explitave here) and you shouldn't care what their testosterone flooded Integra loving juvenile brains come up with (no offense to Korn fans, but ricers do like it) 3. All new cars SUCK. BMWs, Toyotas, Pagani Zondas included. Stay cheap, stay old, keep rockin in the Soob!!!!!one:headbang:
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43979&highlight=1400+pics Did anybody ever get it? Did it get parted out? I remember reading the price for the whole car is/was only $300. Is it worth it? Of course, $300 is like 2 weeks pay for your average fast food worker! I hate to see a good old car go to waste. When an old car dies, it dies.... there is no replacement. The gen-1 Subs are looking better and better to me every day, I might get one when I move to AZ if I can find a decent one. If I had $300 and lived closer I'd get it ASAP. Come on folks, somebody save that gem!
  12. Has anyone ever (succesfully or not) offered to buy the wheels off a running car? There's a 505 nearby with the 15" alloys I want. I'm sure they would be confused at first as to why a stranger would knock on their door with a hundred bucks in hand asking for wheels. Think it could happen?
  13. It's the wheel tilt. When I got my Loyale it wouldn't budge, probably had not been used in a while. Just push down really hard
  14. You haven't been putting diesel in it again, have you?
  15. The BMW would almost certainly not make it. Previous owners have not taken care of it, and before I learned what "oil pressure" was, neither did I, so the engine smokes like Dennis Leary having a mental breakdown. I would like an 80s Toyota truck with the 2.4 or something similar, cheap to run and reliable enough to drive around AZ until I find a good car. I exepect to leave in about 6 months... *maybe* I leave my apartment in 30 days to live with my mom (should save me about $350 a month) and will leave when I have twice as much money as I expect to need and then some. I have taken 2 trips to AZ in the past to scout out living areas and have run out of money both times; I want to be fully prepared this time.
  16. I use the lights pictured on top just about whenever it won't blind oncoming traffic, and I use the ones pictured on the bottom when people are tailgating me with their brights on:)
  17. Don't forget diesel Mercedes! The 4-cyl ones get like 45 miles to the gallon
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7992942761&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1 Seller didn't know what they were, so I informed him that they go on a Suby flat six... but, what exactly do they do?
  19. found on about 9 out of 10 Mustangs and Camaros http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRANT-GT-WOOD-FINISH-STEERING-WHEEL-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33704QQitemZ8016530288QQrdZ1
  20. Well, taking off the GLs wheel is pretty easy. You will see 2 screw holes on the back of the wheel assembly that are kinda hard to get at with a screwdriver, but it doesn't matter because they have some stupid little plastic nubs instead of screws. I broke those off, then just pulled off the horn button, revealing a big nut (17mm i think) unscrew that and the wheel comes right off.
  21. I'm pretty sure my neighbors hate me (not my fault the muffler broke off) (well, it was, but...) Best friend hates it, semi-embarrased to be seen in it Coworkers think it's awesome "Is it the jacked up one? That's bad!" Other drivers seem to have a "What the...?" look on their faces
  22. Thanks guys but I am going to try to find a really really local welder, because those freeway RPMs really pound at my head
