Oh I thought the 4 in XR4 meant they were AWD. Knowing they have a good old RWD transmisson almost makes me want one! but I don't touch (gasloline) turbos.
-
Heh heh.... would you be able to rear a buzzer over a rotary at 6 grand?
-
Thanks to Daeron I think it was for the bump. Wow, that thing is NUTS! I love it! Normally I'm in the "don't cut up a good car" crowd but when the planned end result is something like that it's usally well worth it. So the roof is Subaru huh? Looks like you made looooots of measurments for this one. Did you have to bend side body panels to get the two bodies to fit or did the cutting lines take care of horizontal depth differences? Did that make sense? I assume you're using all XR4Ti running gear? Wonder if the Brat trans would hook up to the turbo Ford engine.... but it's transversely mounted huh? Anyways that's one hell of a cool project, I greatly look forward to seeing the finished product.

Some of them have something much worse than a red light. Jerimiah's wagon has a freakin buzzer that drives you crazy anything over 55.

I couldn't find your pictures but I really want to see them! Oh and while yer at it, come on up to Oregon where your car is emmissions exempt! -
Dude I'd bust out the welder asap. Scrub and sand the living crap out of any rust you see and then do it some more and weld large 1/8th inch steel panels over anything that looks damaged.

Sweet, they live on E. Colonial, that's like half a mile away! Anyways keep us posted on the progress, that car is uber awesomeness -
4 (four) wheel drive is for whoosies. Can you say Tatra?
SakoTGrimes replied to ezapar's topic in Vehicle Videos Online
I think this was posted last year as "Holy crazy Russian offroading things" but way cool nonethe less. I didn't recognize it the first time, but I have since downloaded a game called Rigs of Rods, very realistic trucking game and Ithe Tatra T813 8WD is in it, my favorite truck. I looooove that turbodiesel sound, wish my Soob could make that noise! -
The quality of the mechanics in Jaguars may have improved since Ford's aqusition but the quality of the finish has gone to ****. Fake wood plastic dashes, even the grille is chrome painted plastic not to mention the body panels. If I were to get a Jag, I would buy an 70s or 80s XJ6 and put a German straight six in it. The X type's are chinsey to say the least.

YES! I'm many happy that you got that car. Except for the little rust it looks nice and solid for such a commonly neglected car. The Pug wheels look SWEET on it! Makes that somewhat French looking car look very French, which may be good or bad depending on how you look at it. I could just see that thing lifted and 4WD converted (not a suggestion, just a thought, I mean, everythings better lifted! : ) ) Which end of Roseville are you in? My cousins live there and I visit once or twice a year usually, I'd love to see it. Does she run yet? And one last thing, according to the Wikipedia article on EA engines, which appears to be fairly new and seems like a USMB member write it, shouldn't it have the EA52 1 liter? -
See anything hidded in this photo?

4 down and 5 across.... isn't that a Toyota? -
I am not a mechanic. I have no idea what to do. What it needs: something done to the carburettor, possibly the engine - I'm getting nauseating (and embarrasing) amounts of black and whitish blue smoke out the exhaust and something needs to be done with the brakes. They are very very weak and make knocking noises. If you know what you're doing and want an extra $2-300 lemme know. This is the closest thing I have to a legally drivable car and I need it fixed.

Subaru! The most versatile cars on the Planet.
SakoTGrimes replied to SuperNova's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Versatile? Heck yes they are. Haul. Wheel 31mpg (just picture me going down the freeway) This is probably the first Subaru related post I've made in 100 posts -
Problem: black smoke from EA71 exhaust

OK, I turned a bunch of screws, all the screws I could find - the only one that did anything was the idle adjust... moved that up little so it sounds healthy, but now when it's warm it will stall after just a couple seconds at idle! -
I'm considering commiting blasphemy.
SakoTGrimes replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, it will always have a unibody, not sure if it will be strong enough (probably not) to handle leaf springs by itself though so there's the possibility of a rear subframe. -
I've decided what I want to do with the Brat, and I've got a few questions.... what axle ratios were availible (stock) for Toyota trucks, specifically ones from the 80s? Any different for the diesel ones? Anyone know how tall a 2L or OM616 engine is from oil pan to whatever's on top? I want the Brat to be a real truck, RWD and solid axle, possibly 4WD but we'll see. And yeah I'm serious about this. I'm ready to get dirty and bust knuckles.

I'm sure adjusting the carb would do wonders for my power and mpgs. Trouble is, I have 0 idea how to do that. -
So my uncle's got this 2003/2004 WRX that he leased and then bought. He's 77 and an experienced fast driver. From Lakeview to Ontario he let me drive. This car is just too stinkin easy to speed in, I had a hard time keeping it under 80 (My Soob: 65hp, his Soob: 227) So anyway I'm doing my best to resist the urge to open it up (knowing uncle Lee would be totally fine with it didn't help) until we get to this straight as far as the eye can see and he says "Now would be a good time to go fast/go 100/ something like that" So I did! I kept it down until 123mph and broke my personal speed record. It had waaaay more left in it but there was a curve ahead. DIE bugs! Oh yeah and that speeding part was all done on a closed course, of course.
