Build Thread for my 1978 Wagon...
the progress is that i sold it to a friend of mine that lives down the street from me and i'm helping him fix it up. the thing runs awesome with the fresh motor i put in it. i had 7 cars and needed to part with a couple of them otherwise i wouldn't have sold it.

5 speed d/r into brat
I think you are correct. I couldn't remember.

5 speed d/r into brat
the 5 speed is actually shorter then the 4 speed. I think you'll have to have a custom drive line built. If I'm not mistaken the BRAT and Hatch have to have a custom drive line & the wagon can use the 5 speed drive line (if you weld the carrier bearing in place). Here's the one I had made for my Hatch:

Yes, I just got one last weekend.

liftin a 84 brat
I can show you when we swap parts. It's not that hard, but you do end up with a bit of a camber problem with the spring lift. Here's a photo of mine with a 4in lift.

Is the pitch stopper really neccesary in an EJ swap?
Mine has a pitch stopper on it and I've never had an issue:grin:

So...Am I the first to have a Frankenmotor in his Brat?
No way, All motor baby! I tell ya going to 4.11 gears made a huge difference as well. It really brought the ej22 alive. I can't wait to feel how it goes with the frankenmotor in it. I'm going to do a bit of head work on mine as well. Port, polish & maybe bigger valves too. I'm hoping to get 200 at the wheels.

You need to do an AWD setup in your brat. I've got a phase 1 ej25 sitting at my house waiting for the same setup as yours. I'm going to be putting it in my AWD hatch next summer.

Older wheels... New paint
Thanks for that complement. The wheels went on this 1981 brat that I restored and sold: Here's some video of a walk around: I hope to do another one someday and keep it.

Early-bird Friday PDX to WCSS Thread
Man, things are looking real grim for me making the show now. My car still isn't finished and I have one of the worst colds in history. It's making it very tough for me to go out and finish my car or even get up the motivation to just go at all. I might just take the Outback, but I'll be leaving later in the day tomorrow.

Early-bird Friday PDX to WCSS Thread
Well I guess I'm in. I just hope that I finish my car before I go. Other wise I might just have to take the Outback. But I'm working as hard and late as possible to get it finished. I don't really have much room for problems once it's finished so I hope everything works right the first time. -earl

Portland Convoy to WCSS???
Oh, well let's just do that then.

Portland Convoy to WCSS???
I'm not sure how organized this convoy is, but I thought maybe if we had something up here so that everyone know the time and place that we're taking off from that would be great. I'm thinking somewhere that we all could funnel to... like exit 9 in Washington (clark county fair exit). If you take the exit then turn right there is a Chevron Station there that we can meet at. Meeting time @8am & take off time @8:30am (sound good)?

ej swap won't stay running... HELP!!!
Sounds like the same problem I had and it was the IAC unit. Also check all your fuel lines and filters to make sure you're getting a good flow of fuel. Also make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks & try swapping out the Fuel Pump Relay. Good luck and I hope to see the BRAT at the show.
