low power 85 ea82

gaping the wires makes you get better gas mileage i think, but doesnt do much for power. -
watch some best motoring, and you will see how the rwd handles curvy roads in the downhill and in the uphill. but i understand what you are saying, a fwd car will handle well if its supposed to be fwd. i bet civics would handle like crap if they were converted to rwd, thats just how they're designed. there is no real way to prove who is right here, it all has to do with the driver.

i guess i learned something today. maybe this should have a section in the USRM?

its about time this topic came up. as far as your drivetrain parts, if you are just using this as a daily driver, a lot of stuff is going to break. the first thing you will want to do is modify your subframe so the differential and other parts dont wiggle around and break. i'm not sure about your diff lasting too long, so i would suggest the diff out of a rwd car such as a nissan or a toyota (reliable and somewhat cheap). over on http://www.kungfutouge.com/ there is a guy who converted his outback wagon to rwd. he's using a nissan differerential. the only problem with that is you have to have custom made axels. hope that helps.

ea71 into a 1994 Justy? could it be done?

dont suzuki engines bolt in pretty easy? those are easy to find, very reliable, and get pretty good power. i think the engine codes are g10 g13a and g13b, then there is the g16a and g16b which came in the geo tracker. but a long time ago, i thought i read a thread about putting a D series honda engine in a justy. i think that would be your best bet. what ever engine you swap in will be interesting if it isn't stock though, so best of luck. -Victor -
any updates on this project yet?

theres a guy in canada who put an ej20 in a justy, why cant you put an ej22 in yours? if it were my car, i would take out the back seat.

as far as piggyback, there are many options, but on a budget, megasuirt or greddy e-manage would be your best bet. those go for around $200 used on ebatmotors, and sometimes less. as far as "upping" the oil capacity, all i can think of for that is an oil cooler, which will also help the longevity of your engine, and your turbo when that comes into play.

you can use impreza calipers and rotors right? so does that mean you can use the rear wheel e-brake out of an impreza? -

impreza struts will work as long as they aren't any newer than 2001, 2002 and later struts out of a wrx are too long and will not fit. -

I checked out the CV's upon installation, and after installation and everything felt fine, so this weekend, i'll check the ball joints as well. -
Finally got my 5 lug stuff all done, now for some pics, enjoy. action shot. heh. i have a couple questions though. i'm getting an alignment this weekend. when ever i steer hard either direction, the car will pull that direction until i turn hard the other direction, then it cancels out until the next time. i want to assume that is a problem with caster, am i right? also, upon turning the wheel lock to lock, there is a clunk in the midst of turning the wheel, a friend said thats a cv problem or a ball joint, is that true? last question, does anyone want to trade a set of rear 2wd xt6 gr2's for a set of 4wd wagon rear struts? never used, only taken out of the box once and i cant return them now. any input is great, thanks. -Victor

What do you guys think of BFG's?
simple monkey replied to Mr. Carb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
BF goodrich traction t/a's are really good too. my brother has a set on his corolla, and he was so pleased with them, that i decided to get a set for myself. i wouldn't suggest the kumhos, they don't grip in the rain half the time, and the tire like is maybe 30,000 miles. -
5 lug swap no good for 06 subaru wheels
simple monkey replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the new stis have 5 x 114.3, i think the 2.5 rs still have the 5 x 100 though. i think it was in 04 when the sti started to have the 5 x 114.3 due to torque problems or something like that. there are still some good wheels out there, none with really good offset that i've seen, but you can stack wheel spacers. -
put the scirrocco interior in a beatle and put the soob engine in that.

I'm willing to learn and help. I don't have much experience with software, but i have a little with hardware if that helps. D-Cal, brilliant idea and i think this group is willing to over-clock the ECU like you're talking about, just not everyone is capable of doing it themselves like some of you. I think during the summer, or the next big vacation would be an opportune time for people to learn this stuff. I currently am juggling soccer and school, and soon a part time job, but i am still willing to help/learn. Hope i can help. -Victor
