okay, so i picked this up while working at Vavoline. Dawn. Yes, Dawn, this dish soap. That stuff is amazing at getting grease off of you. If you have grease all over you, oil, trans fluid, whatever, take a shower, bring some dawn. shower with it, then use your body wash of choice. I prefer Axe or Old Spice... P-p-p-p-p-p-POWER! BUILDING KICK! EXPLOSIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Sorry, side tracked.... ANYWAY. Yeah, Dawn works wonders. I've washed my hair with it too, it pulls it right out, then just run some conditioner through it, or you hair will feel like a cacti. :] just my two cents.

Yeah, Dawn works great. So does any brand of Baby Shampoo.

For real nasty yuck, I'll wash my hands with ATF 1st, then hit the soap. The ATF will cut thru some nasty stuff, like the goo from an exploded axle boot, with ease.

Does pretty good in the laundry for those same things.

I used to sell Gyro's and that grease is tough. Dawn seemed to do the best on jeans and such that had Gyro grease on them.

Like Tom I often use ATF, WD40, PB Blaster, etc. especially for thick stuff on my hands, etc. Then ZEP's Cherry Bomb. But for a lot of stuff Dawn can't be beat.

never thought about it but i have a tendency to hit the dawn at the kitchen sink when i'm in a rush and does okay.

i'm just going to come out and say it - i use the rubber/nitrile/latex gloves. i'm sorry to let you down. my dad won't touch them. i get made fun of. oh well, easy clean up works for me.

you guys don't use the gritty soaps, i like those?

hijak

so what do you use on your rags, gloves, shirts and pants in the washing machine????

the cleaning service companies who do it for the professional shops can get them clean,. but i'll be damned if i can. i can get the grease out, but i can't get them clean, spotless.

any advice?????

And here i was licking ...... oh never mind, seemed to work for cats.

I use almost any dishwashing detergent and a red scotch brite pad. The pad isnt hard on the skin, and gets everything out excpet fingernails.

Sadly i have lost some masculinity and started wearing latex gloves when working on the car.

Work clothes, they are supposed to get dirty. i use taorn jeans to rok on the car.

For stains on other clothes, let the detergant pre-soak, then use a stiff dish brush (synthetic) and rub it in.

I was going to say, just get some rubber gloves. we've got em in our shop. we go through a box a day almost. works great

I wear black nitrile gloves. For the rest of me, I find that a combination of Dawn and Snap-On's hand cleaner works really well. I'm not sure who makes the hand cleaner for Snap-On, but it is GOOD STUFF. Not too expensive, either.

I like to use that sandpaper in a jug, pumice orange hand cleaner.

For both topics actually.

it works great for ripping off all that grease and crap (not to mention some

skin if you're not careful  )

And it eats grease really well in the wash.

I just put some on my greasy clothes, scrub it in, and let it sit for a little while

before throwing it in the wash with the rest of the clothes.

Or, if you really want to be super OCD about it, you can just hand wash your

work clothes with your choice of chemicals.

I do sometimes when there is a really stubborn stain.

PS: Just don't let your wife/significant other catch you squirting the pumice

hand cleaner in the laundry, they usually freak out if you haven't explained to

them what its for.

When the can of POR-15 says that "only time will remove POR-15" from your skin it means it. Stuff is great though.

If your using the dawn method of cleaning try using a little suger with it to add grit ......works great

as for hand cleaners i either use bear paw or cherry crush and BTW you can buy the cherry stuff at auto zone
