January 20, 201115 yr i have a bone stock 82 brat: the engine compartment is a cluttered mess:eek: it has a million ugly wires and hoses... i want to clean up this mess ASAP.. January 20, 201115 yr During my rebuilt EA82T install in the '85 GL10. Prior to SVX headlight swap. AC and power steering did not go back in. That helped a bit. Also deleted EGR, purge solenoid, and associated vac lines. Next up is to install 3 small catch cans and delete the PCV system, which will be a huge move forward as far as bay cleanliness goes. When I get around to the spider manifold install, most of the OE wiring will go away and I'm going to re-do the fuel lines in a less convoluted way. Carbon canister will go away then too. January 21, 201115 yr I have a picture, but need to locate it. My 86 3door has an immaculate underhood. I used a product called 'U-Haul grafitti remover' to degrease all the gunk on the aluminum, and what sticks to the rubber hoses. I sprayed and washed about 3 times, using rags and a scotch pad to scrub. After a good wash(got the m/c, the battery tray, the trut tops, firewall all nice and clean, i sprayed everything with tire shine while everything was still wet(the concentrated stuff that looks like elmers glue you mix with water. It turned out rather well, and will impress people that are buying a car that this has been done to.
January 21, 201115 yr svx headlight swap!? I have an extra pair, but I have the 4 headlights on my brat. I REALLY would like to see what it looks like with svx headlights, did you put on the corner lights also? Darrell

January 21, 201115 yr When someone posts a 1400 in clean unrusted condition that'll be the most simple and open looking engine bay. I think the 80-84's are the most cluttered. That is of the old era.....
January 22, 201115 yr Author i thought i would post a before picture. as you can see i have a lot of work to do hahahahahhah Ugly wires everywhere ,, my first job is to figure out how to hide this mess of ugly wires ...... any suggestions ? Take Note i went completely over the top with no limits by installing this radically wild custom radiator over flow catch can jkjkjkj:grin:
January 22, 201115 yr AYE CHIHUAAHUAAAA! Really though it mostly looks dirty/corroded, the engine is still the color of aluminum and not the color of oil.
