I live in Bozeman MT and am always amazed at the number of subarus. take today.

 

driving down main street i saw in 7 blocks 68 subarus. now thats subarus driving parked and ones on the side streets that i glimpsed. also pulled up next to a rx sedan. then at the next light there was an rx coupe parked for sale. and then an sti (black with big rally mud flaps, the guy also drives a ford escort cossworth the real deal). anyway just thought it was nuts. anyway. funny thing is not many gen one cars. maybe 30 or so ive seen here at all driving. 2 76 wagons a 75 2dr. the rest 78 or 79 wagons.

 

would be a grate place for a subaru meet but everyone in town would show up with 2. lol

That was the one nice thing about spending 3 days in bozeman with a broken timing belt, there were tons of subarus, so i knew they'd have the parts.

I once counted the cars in the lot of the Dire Wolf Pub, on the road to Big Mountain, during a Glaicer Avalanche Team fundraiser. Of the 6o + cars and trucks in the lot, 47 or so were Soobies from one 1st Gen to an LL Bean with the dealer plate still on it.

You guys suck!!!! (J/K). I've been through Bozeman and the "Subby Game" gets nuts with everyone in the car shouting "Subaru". That's the worst thing about living in the rust belt, we get excited if we see and 84 wagon, not to mention hystarical over a gen 1 wagon (That guy must have thought I was a loon, waiting for him outside the store).

ina 25 mile trip yesterday, I think I saw one soob.. but it was going the other way.... and fast.. so It may not have een a soob.

Two places I have also noticed a large subaru per capita are Boulder,CO and my current home Bend,OR. I can guarantee that there are at least 2 subarus on every street at any time. It's not rare to pull up to a stop light and have 6 Subarus lined up in a row. Both places are also plauged by Toyata trucks.

When me and my girl first met, we added Subaru to our "Slugabug" game while driving around. We ammended it to just the kind of Subarus we owned cuz there's constanly a Subaru in site, we couldn't keep up.

 

There's no less than 6 dealerships within 30 miles of me. . .

 

 

Even still, it's pretty rare I see gen one Soobs any more. 80-84 wagons are everywhere, I've seen at least one STI every day for the last few weeks.

There are plenty of newer Sube's around... just a handful of the older ones. Just enough that I don't get crazy when I see that beautiful GL hatchback with no rust, but not enough that I start stalking them to find out if they want to sell it.

i think there are only 3 80's model subies running around in my my entire city, and i have 2 . seriously, there are none here, and everyone looks at you like your wierd for haveing one(not that is a bad thing). i cannot wait to move back to ohio, where there are more.

Yeah, I counted over 50 Subes driving under a mile through a neighborhood near campus here in Missoula. Everyone in my family that does or has lived in MT has or has had a Subaru or two. The car is perfect for MT...or for anything.

There are new gen subarus everywhere here, and the ea82 wagon is probably the most popular 80s wagon around. I see ea81s fairly regularly, but they are definitely outnumbered by ea82s and legacys. Ive seen a gen 1 coupe I think, may have seen a brat once when I was a kid, and I have seen a few turbowagons and rxs. Lots of stis and wrxs. Its really amazing when you go skiiing and you see wrxs and subarus of all kinds venturing up the mountain to do donuts and powerslides

Most of the soobs here are pavement queen Outback Wagons, Foresters and ricer Imprezas. I once showed up at a I-Club meet with my OBS all dirty and with my off-road lights mounted. Looked funny next to all those lower RS and WRXs.

 

The best was when I went on a run w/some WRX up a twisty mountain road. Going up the road I was right up there with them. Coming down, my brakes got hot and overheated :-\ so I had to take it really easy.

Man, we all go bonkers just over one soob for the day. Well, saw two today at work. Mainly Legacys and imprezzas here. Boy, do I miss Idaho. Not as many as Moscow, ID we drove through. A minimum of 3 Soobs per corner! I was in heaven! Now I'm stuck here in Arizona with no mud and those pesky mesquite trees that like to eat my body panels. Don't mind the sand. That's fun. Actually able to crawl in 4lo at idle with no throttle. In the flat spots.:-\
