At the rate My project is going it will be a long time before I can run it.I need a engine and transmission to mock up the front suspension, before I can get a engine and transmission I have to get a truck to get parts...But hopefully with this new job I started I can get the truck in the next couple of weeks. So while I wait I can remove the sound deadening on the floor to fix some rust, then put the heater back together, then finish up the wiring,do some work on the dash..Maybe just maybe I will be able to head up that way again.

  • A little more today.  Hard to get anything done.....every time I get set to weld....the wind picks up.....a 1mph breeze is enough to completely blow away my shielding gasses........aaaaarrrrrrrgggghhh

And I spliced in the rest of the essential engine and dash wiring....

If you look closely.....all the "vital" ones like CTS, TPS, Injector power etc.....are non-insul crimped and then shrink wrapped.  Other wires like Purge, ERG (which this engine doens't have) IAC and FICD and a bunch of the redundant grounds are cheap crimped.  The engine wiring is 5 ft above the ground too so I doubt it's gonna see TOO much mud up there.

It's good enough for now.....mostly I just needed to get all the wires swapped around correctly in the harness to make it run.......Later I will non-insul crimp, and shrink wrap all of them........But honestly It's gonna have an EJ by that point with a whole new harness....I just used this as a "beta" engine....

I fear not electrical gremlins.....I know every wire and they are all exposed and easy access so troubleshootin is easy!!!

OH yEAH!!! I drove it today.....just moved it around the shop but shifter and clutch adn all drivelines are all in stuffed a radiator up front cause I haven't worked out the plumbing yet to the back but man oh man is it sweet.........CRAWLS in 1st-lo-lo.

I am with Uberoo on this one, invest in a healthy supply of heat shrink tubing, a heat gun and a good soldering iron.  There is one thing that I learned in the early years and that is that anywhere dirt and water can get in, it will.  One thing that I spent a ton of time doing when I put in my injection system is to make sure that all the connections where seals as much as possible. Even at the actual connectors, get a big tube dielectric grease and apply that stuff liberally, if you think you are using too much, then you almost have enough.  And lastly, try to get your computer as high as you can, Say the back deck, B-pillar, somewhere where you are going to be far to uncomfortable being in the car long before the water gets to the computer.  Great to hear it running, much more incentive to get mine going.  I do long to hear the throaty roar of a flat six...

Keep it up, can not wait to see it in action, and you are that much closer!!

dude knows what hes doing. Hes pretty much the EA82 encyclopedia right now. eatin popcorn..........

I actually preffer non-isul crimp w/no solder and then heat shrink........most solders actually create corrosion later.

Like I said...this is a beta test.......everything is just rigged up for now........at the very least there will be lots of electrical tape, corrogated loom, and zipties to lock everything down before it will see any real offroading.

Form will get better as the time goes on and the function gets all the bugs sorted out.
