That looks damn good! You may have said, but I couldn't find it, what size tires are you running? They look awesome on there.

I put the stock cap back on, and drove it for a good distance today. Actually drove it to go by Another Loyale   Also got a '84+/Brat/Turbo Grille from Greenley today! Much better.

  • Time for a fun post!   Swapped in an EA82 dome light. Direct fit and finish. But so much more light than the EA81 style.         Just chillin' in back of the Hardtop. Its ONLY 90 degrees

Don't think I did post that! 185/60/14 (22.8") So they are pretty much the stock size in Diameter.

Gonna be getting a EA82 FWD 5spd trans for the coupe this weekend. Has 110,000 mi and came out of an '86 GL 3-door. Should be able to get the Flywheel too. Just gotta source a pedal box for an EA81 car and whatever other odds to make this a complete swap.

Thank you MilesFox and SlickDizzy!

Trans turned out to be a Push-button 4WD 5spd, so its more or less useless to me. But I have it anyway. I did get a flywheel for the D/R, so thats wicked!

Orange Marker lights! Tamiya TS-73 does wonders.

I am debating on painting the High-beams amber as well...

Just got NOS Magnum Fog lights, cleaned them up and planning on mounting them under the bumper. Been looking for some large 80s Fog lights for a while. I tested them with 12v, they are rather bright, the bulb is just an 1156. The reflector is very nice chrome and the design of the lens seems to direct the light the right way. $20 steal!

Yeah, man I am digging those rims painted white like that.

Tamiya TS-73 (Clear Orange) Always works great!

Wheels were powder coated white about 5yrs ago lol.

Found lights mounted!

Geez mate, there's a lot of orange on the front of that coupe now!!

I Australia we use a yellow light for foggy conditions - well, those who actually need fog lights, the new vehicles come out with white "fog lights" that are run at night with the other lights.  Not cool but no body does anything about them :(

Cheers

I still want to get two big round Light Force or IPF lights for in front of the grille, Mounted on some type of bar, I like Light Force because you can change the Lens.

So I finished de-smogging the EA81 today. I even removed the Charcoal canister and everything associated with it. Now the only lines which run to the Carb are the Main fuel supply, the return line, and a vac hose for the Disty advance, every other port on the carb has been capped off along with the intake. I no longer have the EGR hooked up, so its acting as its own block off plate until I make one.

Seems to run even better now.

I want to do that to mine. There's way too many hoses and crap running everywhere.

If you don't have inspections or emissions over there, just start removing it all! It'll run the same if not better. WI doesn't have inspections and only does testing for vehicles 1996 and newer (But not all Counties in the state do it)

Next up is to totally de-smog the EA82, hoping the ECU won't trigger a CEL. If the '92 Landcruiser does't, I don't see why the Loyale would, but who knows.

The best way to fix an ECU check engine light is to place some black electrical tape over the check engine light spot on the dash. Works like a charm...I haven't seen a check engine light in ages!

I do get an ECS light on the EA81 when you drive it long enough, but thats because someone removed the O2 sensor and plugged off the hole with some JB Weld. I am thinking of putting a resister in place of the Oxygen sensor so the computer thinks its there.

Or pull the bulb out lol.

Yeah Jimbo said the same thing. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow if it isn't pouring.

Here you can see the Main fuel feeder line, the Return, and the Vac line for the throttle/choke thing on the left. And all the blocked off ports that are now unused. I am planning on unscrewing the port ends, and screwing something solid into them so there is no need to worry about failing rubber caps.

No Charcoal canister and lines anymore!

This is the breather line for the tank vent, I am planning on hooking this to the air box where suction isn't so absolute as not to draw fuel thru this line, but have it vent into the air box so it can be re-burned if at all. My other thought was to just cap off this line, but I'm not sure what reproductions would happen if the tank can vent?

I will trade you for a clean EA82 sedan. I can't deal with rotted out Subarus anymore, top half looks nice, bottom is gone, you have to rebuild the car before you can even build it up!

Nico, you have one of the nicest, cleanest builds I have ever seen, and for the fact that everything is almost NOS and is altered, it is amazing!

Gonna get my '82 4WD bumper from the Skiwagon back tomorrow! Gotta pick it up in West suburbs of Chicago.

  • Author

Picked up the bumper last Sunday, looked just about as good as when it left me! Just needed to be re-polished and the rubber re-moisted. Now I gotta figure out how to make a 4WD bumper work on a 2WD that had the impact bumper struts (Which I removed)

Anyway, got a set of KYB Gas A Justs today for the rear, installed them and its a night a day difference from the original collapsed dampers. Awesome stuff!

The rear finally sits up just a bit, no more saggy rear end!

DSCF2152.jpg

Also repainted the rear badge since all the chrome flaked off. All Tamiya paints. Gray and Red to keep it looking 80s.
