February 18, 200620 yr Some people recently have wanted some pics of my switch panel, and also how I've done my stereo. Check it out: http://www.subarutex.com/gallery/v/Wagon/
February 18, 200620 yr that is really sweet looking. i like the re-routed stereo face alot. What is that big red button above it? eject? self-destruct?
February 18, 200620 yr That looks really solid!!! where'd you hide the rest of the deck.... nevermind, should have looked closer
February 18, 200620 yr Author that is really sweet looking. i like the re-routed stereo face alot. What is that big red button above it? eject? self-destruct? Air Horns. Although, i get cheap sets... and they never hold up to water very well. I'm on my 3rd set...
February 18, 200620 yr Author That looks really solid!!! where'd you hide the rest of the deck? Hidden in the glove box. With a switch to 'simulate' the deck face being folded down to allow the CD to eject.
February 18, 200620 yr looks really good tex. i love that switch panel, very very smart, i've been running out of room for all my switches :-/ i love that sub box,it doesnt take much room at all. just the unesed space.did u build the box yourself?
February 18, 200620 yr Author Yup, designed and built the box myself... with the help and tools of my Grandpa. Sub is a Pioneer 10" DVC 1500w capable. The amp, mounted in the box, under the window, is a Pioneer 1000w X 1 mono amp.
February 18, 200620 yr I like how you did the face plate of the stereo, just curious as to how it's connected to the unit itself. Got the gears turning here......
February 18, 200620 yr if i had a switch panel in my car like that my best friend would get in there and start fliping all of them. whats the switch for thats says door? door light of some kind.
February 18, 200620 yr ok tex...help me out here. You took the radio and made a wire harness from the folded face to the HU right? Or am I off here? If so you got some pics of that harness? I have an 83 that I refuse to hack up but the factory radio sucks. If I could find a way to be crafty like this i'd be all over it.
February 20, 200620 yr You can do it with almost any deck with a removable faceplate. Just solder wires onto the contacts on the back of the faceplate and connect those wires to the contacts on the deck itself. As tex said, you need to put a switch on one of those wires so the deck knows when the "faceplate is off", although that's only because this particular deck has a swivel type faceplate. (sorry for stealing your thunder, tex)
