October 29, 200619 yr My EA82-body wagon is sagging in the front. I have an EJ22 + 140# of winch, bumper and skidplate on the front. If anyone has experimented with other stronger springs, I want to hear about it. RX springs are supposedy stiffer, and raise a stock one 1". I'm not stock weight, but would they be enough to bring it back to stock height? Would first gen legacy springs fit? I think I need 1.5-2" of height back. The wagon has a deffinate rake forwards.
October 29, 200619 yr Well I had the thought of using L rear shocks with the top hat from the fronts and using a set of honda accord springs in the front, this is what my mate Luke would like to do with his L.

Can't see how Luke could fit rear shocks in the front. no, the accord front springs are only for the rear. and there isn't any way to use EA82 rear shocks on the front. no way to hold the knuckle still. McBrat has RX springs on the front of his brat, with dual batteries, and a very beefy front bumper/winch. it seems to hold it up great. if nothing else, you could get adjustable front struts from an '85-'85 EA82 to get it to ride how you want.
October 29, 200619 yr In my Brat I use L series (85 to 94) rear springs in the front. I used the rear strut tops too. Same hight, same spring rate, but more clearence to fix my positive camber problem.. I'm working on new front strut lift blocks to give me better camber now. I just need some steel.
October 29, 200619 yr I've got King springs in the front of my offroad beast, and generic 'heavy duty' springs in the front of my brumby. Both hold the front up nice and high. Be prepared to pay for decent springs though
October 29, 200619 yr Author Are EA81 and EA82 front springs the same? I'm not sure what fits a brat will fit my car. I have a set of the adjustable struts out of an 86, but they're so rusty I wouldn't trust them. I'm still thinking about the legacy springs. The legacy's are a heavier car, so they might have stiffer springs.

I'll put some Kroil on the adjustment threads, rip the caps and springs off, and see what I can do. Mabe with the adjusters and RX springs, I could bring it back up. Figures it takes the board to make me look at my own parts... Glad I posted.

Glad I posted. haha, I garauntee that combo will get you what you want (and probably more!). the RX springs will hold up most of the weight, and then there's another couple inches of potential in the adjustable struts!
October 30, 200619 yr I ran RX springs on my EA82, and it seemed to raise the front about an inch. Even after swapping in the EJ22, it sat pretty high.

November 1, 200619 yr some one once told me that front springs from a 80ish ford tempo would give you about 1in in lift and a softer ride...just cant remember who told me that:confused:

October 29, 200916 yr Author Wooooo back from the dead in time for haloween! I ended up getting a set of tempo V6 springs, but i never did get around to installing them and now the poor old loyale is retired due to ungodly amounts of rust.

October 30, 200916 yr I read it here.Than I proceded to install them on my 87 gl EJ wagon.They lifted the front noticiably.I even cut one of the top coils off before I installed them...
October 30, 200916 yr right, why would they be for only an ea82 body style?besides the strut top, most ea struts interchange.well, i guess all of them do, but height difference comes into play. so , why would you not be able to put these on an ea81 front?

November 2, 200916 yr I quickly scanned through this post and didnt see a year listing for the tempo springs. guessing early 90's? I got 2 at the shop atm that are parts rigs. gonna rip them apart tommorow and try them out
