Oddity at the junk yard

Featured Replies

This ones a new one for me. I've seen plenty of FW4wd loyale Turbos, touring wagons and strange ea81 suspensions swapped XT-6's but this I didn't know they even made. It says "RS Turbo" on the rear deck too...

Probably a 1990 turbo. I believe that was the last year the turbo EA-82 was built - for this market, at least.

Was it 4wd?

I had seen one that was a white three door RS, it had all the RX body work, ground effects, spoiler, etc. But was an automatic with no turbo. All factory.

Could be just the old moulding fell off and a loyale moulding was put on instead.

Saw that one also Phil.I saw it when it was being brought out by a fork lift.I would have grabbed the gold hub caps if they were in better shape. That was the first thing that caught my eye.

I've seen a loyale RS. It was one of the later ones, which were not EA82T powered...I think it was SPFI. Very cool looking car.

You've found quite a rare car Phil. There was indeed a Loyale RS Turbo 3-door in 1990. And that's the only one I've ever seen real-life pics of.

yes they did make those in '90. Like Mick said, its a Loyale RX basically. Granted, you could get the RS model with SPFI and an automatic which were more common but for the most part, boody wise, they were RX. Some of them had the full bodykit, some of them had only the front air dam and rear spoiler, some of them were white, some were black, some were turbo, some were a FT4WD, etc. etc. etc.

So are the front RS springs the same as the front ones on the RX?Same spring rate and height ect?

yes I do believe they are but only one way to be certain is to compare them to an RX spring...

that's cool. wish my loyale was an rs. a black rx wagon would be sweet.

I have seen only one black GL-10 wagon. It was an '89 GL-10 turbowagon with a 4EAT in it. It was sick, but it was in the junkyard as well

If I ever get my wagon together and running for a while, I'm painting it black.

I was hoping someone on here would have a black one I could see pics of, as I too have never seen a black one.

Well I may just have to check it a little more closely.I got rx's on the front of the hatch so that is a start.

i've seen 2 of these at junkyards in denver over the past 5 years. one was at sidewinder the other at cap. have any of you denver guys seen any gen 1s at any of the junkyards lately?

Wait! I take that back, my mom used to go out with a guy who had a black GL10 Wagon.... one of the first cars I ever drove (I was 14ish). I hated that thing though, it was god awful slow.... I did dig the digital gauges and sunroof though
