November 19, 200322 yr on xt6.org it says that the xt6 transmission "is said" to be able to take 400 hp. I don't think this is really true, at least not to 400. what are your opinions?
November 19, 200322 yr i think thats a big stretch... there was "rumored" to be a guy who ran an XT6 info page a few years ago who squeezed 400hp out of his car, however there is no information available on him or the car itself. i honestly dont see this trans capable of with standing that kind of power. im touching in on 180+hp with my XT and 3rd gear feels a little "stubborn" sometimes...i dont think they would have over built the trans for an XT6 by that big of a margin.
November 20, 200322 yr I dunno guys they had big plans for the XT6 they might have built it that tough. but I think somebody should try it out though.
November 20, 200322 yr One question... If the trans for the XT6 was built to handle 400-hp why didn't they continue to use it for the SVX?
November 20, 200322 yr I honestly don't see the issue with any of the subaru transmissions taking a 400hp load all day every day, it's when people abuse them that causes the trouble! Oh yeah, having to change gears wears them out too!

Of course the SVX version has more clutch packs but in reality they come from the same family as does all Impreza and Legacy slushes in the US. In fact the Easy Street Impreza has a slushbox with SVX gears if i remember right.
November 24, 200322 yr ya, the auto. the one were are talking about is the 5spd. I think anyways. and I have read somewhere that it was built for 400 or something like that. but have never seen anything to back it up
November 24, 200322 yr there was an XT6 at WCSS3, and I think the guy was running about 250hp, and it wasn't even his race engine.... had different cams, and welded front and read diffs...
