I've been looking for vented Brembo rotors for a 4wd EA81, but I think the online stores I'm looking in are mixing up EA82 rotors with EA81 (Giving me dimensions that don't match the EA81 FSM). Does anyone know where to get Brembo rotors for our cars or rotors of similar quality?

No vented rotors for the EA81, but you could probably swap out hubs and knuckles from an XT or RX or something that would have four lugs still and vented rotors.

How can you tell the difference, look at the side? My brat was made in 5/83.

Yeah, look at the outside edge of your rotors. They will either be solid or vented.

 

If they are solid, its a simple matter of replacing a few parts for the swap.

You wil also need the calipers and the correct pads (I might be wrong on the pads). The vented rotor calipers have a wider spread to make room for the vented rotor's extra thinkness.

Nothing really, I just want the highest quality replacement rotors that I can find. I know we can get Brembos for the solid rotor crowd, but is there some super secret part number for the vented discs? The problem with my current ones are big fat grooves caused by a loose axle nut and rust scale that looks ugly... Plus I don't want to bed in my new Hawk HPS pads on those rotors, however old they might be. Does anyone have a prefered brand of rotors similar in quality to Brembo? In this case I'm not looking for the least expensive option, I WANT to spend money on my brakes. Anyone have the hook up on Motul RBF600 brake fluid?

Well, I searched the interwebs long and hard, but I finally found the correct part number for the vented EA81 front rotor from Brembo. They are here now along with EA82 Brembo rear rotors. Pads are from Hawk and Axxis.

 

All I need now is some Motul RBF600, stainless braided lines and two sets of caliper rebuild kits.

About 4mo ago I got some Brembo front rotors for my Brat off Ebay. Just installed them a few weeks ago and it really helped.

Sounds like SS lines from a new gen car will work with minor mods. If this is the case, I know where my next set is coming from! Still saving up money for the fluid and lines. I should probably put an EA82 proportioning valve in or something.

Bringing this thread back from the dead because i have a similar want. I put some new vented rotors on the front of my coupe along with the rear disk upgrade from a Turbo EA82. I had to dial in the rear brakes however with adjustable proportioning valves which required a few very hard stops to get the fronts to the point where they just locked up before the rears. The problem is....my new vented rotors are now warped and at around 10 bucks a pop they are not really worth getting turned down.

 

My question is should i go out of my way and get a set of brembos? I do like to play around every now and again but i wouldnt think that a few hard stops would warp the rotors so easily. I was not very impressed with the rotors. They are from rock auto.

Yes. Many aftermarket companies build OEM replacement rotors that are the correct dimentions, but the materials are all wrong. For $10 a pop, it doesn't surprise me one bit that they went south already. Get the Brembos, but make sure they are not knock-off, Chinese built rotors.
