1996 legacy 199k and going strong. everything original except clutch.

my other subaru, 2001 w 134k, just had its gasket go.

2000 OBW (SOHC PHASE II) - 133k and counting...(now I'm more scared than ever about it)

Don't be, the type of failure that the phaseII has is easily sealed with Subaru's "slime". The external leaks react well to sealants.

The phaseI has combustion leaking into the coolant, that's almost impossible to seal.

I know. But it seems like the likelihood is significantly higher than I previously anticipated. I was under the impression that premature failure of any kind was almost completely nil past 2000 ('99 in Foresters).

But whatever. I can slime that bad boy and run it til it breaks of something else.

1995 Legacy Sedan, 120k (2.2 though)

2001 OBW, 113k (and knocking on wood)

I hope it lasts much much longer. I also thought that the HG issues were fixed by 2001. Time will tell I guess.;)

133k

4eat

2.2l

Ok, you're all starting to freak me out. but she's tight as a drum and sticks to 182 degree most of the time. but were not really talking about the 2.2 are we?

242,xxx on my 95 Impreza Lx still original HG.

120,000 on my 96 OBW (2.5) with original HG. I bought the car new. The only issue I have is oil consumption (not external leak) @ 1 quart/800-900 miles but I can deal with that. OEM PCV valves replaced and checked at regular intervals.

2000 Outback 123000 miles.

Head gaskets just started weeping. I guess it's my time. Showed it to the dealer and they suggested trying the coolant conditioner. The "conditioner"

was put in after the recall, but I'm not sure if they added it in subsequent coolant changes (my paperwork would suggest not). They told me the leak is slight enough at this point that it would NOT qualify for warranty work yet if it were still under warranty.

Bought my '97 Outback with a bad HG

142,000

Automatic

Replaced with a CCR reman, 44,000 and not a peep:burnout:

The engine I replaced is assumed to be original

I will be the odd ball of them all! lol! 2004 subaru legacy auto, headgaskets went at 37k, and people think that they were ok by 2004, I tend not to be a strong believer of that, some friends of mine have a 2004 and they had them go to,

I've got 200K on my 97 2,2 lego and 210K on the 2.2 in my 97 OB original.

1995 Lego wagon, 2nd owner in the family since new. 2.2/4eat with 289,000km on the clock original HG's. Resealed at 200km (cams, intake, etc.) but left the HG's. Runs smooth as butter, stone axe reliable.
