opinion on best 27" tires for 15" rims

Featured Replies

Anyone have advise on which brand to go with? I want a good mud tire but not one that's make me feel like in driving on the turtles. Lol nothing too nobby. (For a 88 wagon lifted 4 inches)

I went to Walmart and bought the Liberators. I absolutly love um. And, there cheap. There hard as rocks and will probably last forever. They are challenging on a Rain Soaked Freeway, maybe even Dangerous over say 55mph. But thats only during the worst kinda rain we get. And only until the water clears a bit. For regular rain and dry pavement, there good. I paid about $270 for four of them, mounted and balanced. The only problem I had is they wouldn't give me the warranty 'cause they are Way out of spec for OEM on an older soob. I wasn't too concerned 'cause there plenty cheap. As far as off-raodability. Alls I can say is they work fine for what I do. Logging roads mostly, occasionally rip thru some mud. I avoid rocks, aways have.

I had a set of Uniroyal Liberators on my old chevy pickup... +1 for tough as nails!! Got them at WalMart too. They're actually made by Michelin if that's any help?

Mykingcrab has a set of 27" TSL Swampers on his lifted RX and he's reported them as being good on the highway... They look freaking TRICK too!!

It's all or nothing for tires this small. Either you want traction and tires that will self-clean or you don't. If you don't go with an Interco Swamper of some flavor or at least something with a BFG M/T style tread, then you might as well get street tires for all the good they will do you.

Hey gd I remember you too. Well I want some meaty tires that won't wear out too fast got a link?

Just check out Interco's web site - if you go with the radials they should be adequately road-worthy and work well off-road.

The Interco's are hard as nails - you definately won't wear them out real fast.

Check out the Hankook Dynapro MT RT03. They come in 215/75/15 which is just over 27.5". They're a rip off of the Toyo Open Country M/T. Not identical, but a good copy. They're like $113 a tire though.

those are exact;y what I have on my Red Brat....

I absolutely love them on the snow and Ice this winter. vehicle of choice this winter with frozen streets. the tires on the outback just didn't cut it......

(for you Brent, you may need to do some trimming... I should test fit one of mine onto my blue brat after it warms us so we can verify.)

I'm running firestone destination at's on my brat in the 215/75/15. They are great in every condition I've used them in so far. Dry pavement, wet pavement, snow, ice. They rock. I run them on my range rover as well.

The set on the rover has over 20k miles and seem to have almost as much tread as the "new" set on the brat. They are quiet on the road too.

These are definately the best tires I've ever had, but they were about $110 a piece if I remember correctly.

these are hankooks dont remember the model but I would get them in a 27" over the swampers, the swampers are the best for mud but most of your driving ends up on the road, swampers seen to be a bit soft and will wear on the road

Ill think about it. Ill keep you posted what kind of tires are they? And how much life do they have? What is the rim size and tire size?

Why so rude zap? Im on my phone that's why not a desktop computer.

  • Author

Lol okay ill do that when I get to a computer.

Not being rude, just asking. Think of it as more of a nudge toward the O/R section. I can't imagine buying a tire without pics of the actual tread pattern. Experienced tales alone wouldn't cut it for me.

Those are the Hankook DynaPro MT RT03 I was talking about earlier. They are about $450 plus tax for a set of 215/75/15s. They are great tires.
