  1. High speed doesn't use the resistors. Probably either a failing blower motor or a relay that can't stay pulled in. GD

  2. I have 1/2 a dozen sedan/BRAT/wagon front seals sitting in the garage that are going to the UK, I could get the ok from the UK owner to ship one stateside. He was buying another 6 from Phil's Rotaries anyway, so I don't see it as a problem (would just make the order 7). If it's a hardtop it's a different story, you'd need to buy it and ship to me and I could on-ship (I could consolidate with some other items I send to the US frequently to save on the shipping). PM me for address details, etc.

  3. Buy a wrecked rust-free BAJA, or outback if appropriate to the parts you need (front only) and swap panels or do some chopping and have at it if that's the route you want to take. i'd suggest finding a parts car you can buy the entire thing and have all the guts you need to replace...i mean rebuild it. Do a quality assessment and get feedback from someone very familiar with rust. Make sure it's worth it, reasonably repairable, not too invasive - rust is easily penny wise dollar dumb. I'm near the point of saying rust is always penny wise and dollar dumb. I've gone years now avoiding rusty Subaru's which are the norm here, I'm so done with that debacle of ownership. you're next door to rust free subaru glory land - i'd just ditch it and get one that's rust free. i'm 3,000 miles away and i've bought subaru from just around the corner from you. It's rarely done but there are some crazy's out there - search until you find them. someone on subaruxt.com is rebuilding a cancerous XT6. It's usually a loosing battle - and is likely to come back sooner than you think even after repair.

  4. Any Aussie members up for an assist here? My local shop has the glass, but my rubber is toast. I've checked with the dealer in town and he extended his search to the surrounding 4000 miles and can't find a dealer with one. I've tried a few online parts stores with the same results. There are a couple of ebay.au auctions, but of course they don't want to fiddle with international shipping. I'd be up for bidding on the auction, shipping to you then paying you to ship to me. @jono @dfoyl ? looked into P/N WCR-417 mfg by Precision prp.com, but it appears to be a dead end too. From talking with prp staff asking if they could make another run of these gaskets for statesiders; "We would have to re-tool because this tool is no longer viable. It’s been probably 5-10 years since used and the tool has been scrapped. How many would you be interested to buy at once? We’d probably need to see an order in the range of $5,000-$10,000 in order to make this pass feasibility." --update-- The prp guys went the extra mile and checked in with one of their customers to check their stock. "Safelite Auto Glass, and they have 85 in stock throughout the nation on WCR 417", except the guy on their hotline says they won't offer the part for wholesale. So I'll be driving by the local shop to see what they can do. Tempted to buy 10 of them and register as a vendor on Rock Auto.

  5. Not just the GLs. I have a loverly 80 DL that's had the EJ22 Heart Transplant. It is a beautiful thing. Some would possibly cringe at the thought of the BRZ's engine going into another Subaru, but I do not doubt that it can be done.

  6. Thats pretty cool. The snorkel opening goes way up into the cab... I can see a comic bit of the passengers head getting sucked into the opening. At least it keeps the moisture out of it. :-p

  8. This little strip of metal which is above the license plate and backs the latch and license plate lights is prone to rust. Replacement is fairly easy. There are other ideas inside about different paints and treatments for this bracket. Replacing rusty hatch latch bracket Commuter

  9. I've had four late 90's subarus. The only thing that caused stalling to a stop was a failing MAF. Cleaning the MAF is a waste of time in my opinion. The problem is in the solid state electronics. In my case, it didn't set a code for the first 4 times it stalled the car. Finally it did. The OP is in a position that he has to start guessing. The first guess should be to go get a used MAF and put it in. It only takes 5 minutes.
