MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
blownbimer replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Promise? Im sure I'll make it out there in one of the beasts....or maybe I should show in a Civic or a BMW? ahhh Thanks Erik -
First, check the Vitals, I usually taste the oil on the dipstick.Pull the oil cap, and look for creamy goodness-Creamy goodness is not good, its bad. Check The ATF, Smell burnt? Power brake it, and feel for the trans slipping. Check the tires, make sure they all are even worn. Diffrent color body panels? Look for signs of a hard hit. Legs have the spare in the trunk right? Pull up the spare and look for signs of rust. Turn in a tight circle and listen for clicking...better yet, crawl under and look at all the axles for torn boots. While your under the car, look for excessive subaru seepage. Hammer on the car, make sure the shift is crisp. Turbo holding the boost when you do that? Pull the intake tube and check for excessive oil in the tube.Ask the owner not to warm up the car. That way, when you start it, you can test its cold start, as well as looking for valve guide smoke..Think SBC! Good luck! When are you going to check this thing out? Thanks Erik

shouldn't be too bad....If you plan on a wrenching party, let me know....and I think russ owes you to help...heh Oh, are you running this thing very much? Might want NOT to run it much if it is mixing water and oil...dont want to wash a bearing.... Thanks Erik

Kingbobdole here, stealing Noss's intraweb.... Id just like to say that I would think he'd rather go with the EJ series tranny cuz... I know the cvs are the same and the lenght is the same... the issue is the rear mounts, which I'm not sure on.... also the adapter plate would be easier but priceyerer er.... if you get a donor turbo leg, that'll make it easy... just depends on how much power you plan to make andd in an XT6 somewhere in the 170 horse to the ground area will make you take down a WRX... they are not that fast... my xt6 can take down a stock wrx.... As far as the engine goes... I'd either just try a combo of motor mounts and cross members till it fit... worst case, you have to do a bit of modding, but the motor mounts for the 6 and ejt are VERY similar... just the blot is off a bit which makes me think its cake to get it in there..... as far as engine management goes... I'd rethink MS at that... yeah yeah yeah I said it before, but there are many prefabbed things that will go on an EJ and be cake to make work... MS is a little bit more hands on... and I'll lend you a hand, but if you cant figure it out, theres no reason to have it, get something more basic... The ER27 being "unturboable" is total CRAP... I will prove it my self if I have to... I just need 2 more parts:burnout:

That plastic peice is GONE on this one...motor is super clean on this car, so its not just hiding from me. Prob play around with it...or go to sidewinder and get one...are they a PIA to put on? -
Well, i thought she was running good....aparently not. I took her over to the emissions place, and she failed the CO part of the test.100 on the co with a limit of 20. Looking at the papers, it failed at high speed on the dyno...so Its over fueling then. Where to start checking? this car has recently had a tune up, but the timing hasnt been set b/c of no marks. 02 sensor? where oh where to start? Thanks Erik

what makes a ea82t engine die?
blownbimer replied to subiemech85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For me, It was 25psi of boost, which made the impeller grind on the housing via 1/2 inch of play, which led to metal shavings which led to the rod feeling the need to tell me how unhappy it was to be inside the motor.... -
Wha? Its ALIVE!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

The ones I've used, you put the cly in question on TDC, then, you connect a fancy air tool to the spark plug hole.Im sure autozone rents them. When the air blows, you should be able to listen in the oil cap, air filter, and exhaust pipe, wherever you hear a hiss, thats where to start looking. Thanks Erik -
