  1. +1 Although, I quit fooling with ebay a long time ago. Found I can find Subaru parts better and cheaper on boards like this one and nasioc.
  2. I've got a WRX 6 disc changer in my 95 Outback. 2 weeks ago the thing stopped reading CD's and wouldn't eject them. Sucks, I loved how the thing looked and was free.
  3. Do you still have the jump seats. Least he left the frame in there and didn't cut it out like most.
  4. Yes, it is an interference engine. Do you have any idea who did the head gasket job or the parts that were used? I would at most get a leak down and/or a compression test done on it.
  5. That's hot. Make sure and post a video when you get that beast running.
  6. Great to hear. I can not tell you how many times I have saw posts where those parts store thermostats cause a world of problems to people's cars.
  7. Most autoparts stores carry those lift struts in various lengths. We had to buy some the other day for my company car. It's a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the middle glass portion wouldn't stay open and would wack you in the noggin.
  8. 1. You do need to run 93 Octane. 2. I change the oil on my STi as well as about 30 other people I know very well every 3,000 miles with turbo Subarus. 3. Check the oil when you fill the car up. 4. The one main advantage would be that the turbo models will not have the threat of headgasket leaks like the naturally aspirated ones. 5. You are thinking of the cat material in the uppipe become dislodged and getting sucked into the exhaust side of the turbo. You can always get a catless uppipe. To be frank. It seems that you don't really want to mess with some regular maintenance and checkup items. I can't imagine the turbo lag being THAT bad where it would irritate you. The bottom line: It really comes down to how the owner before you took care of the car and maintained it.
  9. +1 A faulty radiator cap will have you scratching your head for a long time.
  10. Just a thought: Could you not prop the hatch open and measure it from the point where the strut mounts to it in full open position?
  11. Everybody bashes the 95 Outback because of it being short a tad over an inch on ground clearance but I absolutely love mine to death.
  12. Holy crap, that's a heck of a hit. Again, glad to hear you're ok.
  13. Ouch. I was spoiled by the one on my RS coupe and wish the STi had a RA roof vent. I just can't bring myself to cut a hole in a perfect roof.
  14. Man, it would be really hard for me to part with something like that. There are only a handful of these babies left in such pristine shape. The 85 model is actually in more of a demand, hydro engine and last year with the jump seats. This is one of the few cases where one can NOT post enough pictures. Engine bay, pretty please?
  15. I can confirm one thing. The bulb used in the dome light is NOT the same as in the rear hatch.
  16. Darb brown, milkshake material inside the radiator when you look in. The coolant smells like car exhaust is a starting point.
  17. I know EA81 headgasket issues are like the EJ22, they blow when overheated severly. Since you said you added quite a bit of coolant. Do you think it was ran low and driven for an extended period of time overheated and blew the head gaskets out?
  18. The guy that is the father to the two young ladies that are in the Legacy ad where he is talking to the little one and the next scene is in her teens, posts regularly on NASIOC.
  19. You need a new mechanic. Valve cover gasket, perhaps?
