Inside Moisture

Dehumidifier? -
Is the old one dry rotted or have any big cracks? You might consider calling the dealer and seeing if they can source you a gasket. But who knows how long the Subaru one has been sitting on a shelf in a warehouse. Does it leak water?

Tachometer sticking when cold
Durania replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I had to swap gauge clusters from the 240k+ in my brat to a 75k to fix the sticking tach issue. -
Seven year storage GL10 turbo ideas
Durania replied to swampbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't be surprised when your head gaskets go in a few months. Don't want to burst your bubble but the EA82T is by far one of the worst Subaru engines made. -
Inside Moisture

I found that leaving my vents on "fresh" keeps things from fogging up. This is also covered in the manual. -
Not that I recommend doing this but, you can tap on the MAF with the handle of a screwdriver and see if the idle changes. If you do go to the junk yard for a MAF, make sure and leave the upper portion of the air box on. This makes for a quick swap in the junk yard parking lot. My mechanic also told me to make sure the part numbers match up on them, not sure if the auto got a different one from the 5 speed.

P0420 code
Durania replied to edrach's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I too tried the anti-fouler trick to fix my P0420. I was getting it every few days and it would go off for a few. I had my buddy install the anti-fouler when he had it doing my head gaskets. He said he was only able to get one fouler on there instead of the needed two. Now my light is on a lot more. -
I like it, always been a fan of that style camper top.

I did read that the yellow film isnt really enough. If you will go this route, make sure and get the yellow bulbs as well. I also forgot to add that I replaced the factory torx screws that hold my fogs in. One bolt snapped in half and left the other part in my bumper, the other stripped out the hole. I replaced them with 10mm bolts coated in anti-seize. Makes for removal and installation so much easier.

Just got my fogs revamped. Got the yellow tint from headlightarmor.com http://www.headlightarmor.com/subaru-lighting-kits.aspx?page=5 And took RallyKeith's advice and went with the Optilux XY yellows. My headlights are Silverstars and will probably be getting some 4500k HIDs soon. Here are the pictures:

Should've saved the pictures for reference. :-\ Here is the root of the site: http://www.goo-net.com/english/ Prepare for a world of hurt, especially when you get to the foresters.

This is for an RS but it should be the same: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t78972-diy-head-gasket-replacement.html I have a good friend who did my gaskets at his Subaru shop and got all my stuff done for $900 w/taxes. I called the two local Subaru dealers and was quoted 2k at one and $1500 at the other. If I will get to my tool shed sometime I will take pictures of my blown head gaskets for reference sake.
