Never heard of someone getting that lucky. Do they compression test to make sure. Pretty crazy if everything is fine.

Both 99 and 00 will have SOHC engines.

I think it will. Probably will have to swap intake manifolds since the 99 is MAF based and the 2000 is MAP.

I had 16" WRX wheels on my 91 Legacy with stock 205/55 size tires and had no trouble at all. Noticed a huge difference in handling.

You should be able to find one at a junk yard. Not sure if you will be able to use one off of a 98 since it was DOHC that year and 00-01 were MAP based so those years are ruled out.

I put an auto zone reman one on my Brat when it died after work one day. Of course I didn't have much of a choice. I do try and stick to OEM on most items simply because there is a large difference in quality.

Yep, the 2.5 and 2.0 DOHC are in there horizontally. The SOHC engines are in at angles.

I am sure you'll remember it but make sure you get the Subaru gasket for the thermostat as well.

My money is on the alternator, those things can be finnicky when they are on their way out.

Subaru makes something that will clean and refresh your HVAC system. I've seen it advertised in some pamphlets they send me.

Did you happen to flush the heater core as well?
