Auto VS. Manuel
fnlyfnd replied to xr2guy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI vote for the 5spd. It feels peppy and as long as the clutch is recent you'll be fine.

$2500 oil leak repair
fnlyfnd replied to Infidel's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOnce the leaks are fixed the car will be good for awhile. The Ej22 is the best engine subaru ever made, althought you have the 2nd gen, it is still a great motor. I say fix it w/ a private shop buying the parts yourself from a online dealer (subarugenuineparts.com or 1stsubaruparts.com, etc..). As long as the tranny is good and the body isn't roting out it would be totally worth it to fix it.

lifted 94 impreza wagon Q's
fnlyfnd replied to True2Blue's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXcheck nasioc, a lot of people do it best bet is to get a whole complete wrx that is salvaged. You'll need everything (harness, ecu, dash?, pedals, reard diff, etc..) Should be able to get it done over a weekend. I believe the entire dash itself is a near perfect fit. Even if you did the mechanical end, a shop cold do the electrical stuff. I'm sure someone in WA specializes in this kind of thing. Eastcoastswappers.com ...just to check it out I know its the wrong coast

Rear Window washer? 97 LOB...
fnlyfnd replied to mcbrat's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's a terrible design. Why fight gravity? When I had my '96 I seriously considered putting in a top mount sprayer like the newer outbacks

fnlyfnd replied to Bserk's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGo for it. I just gave up my '96 outback for a 2005. The new ones are way better, but I still miss the '96

Has Anyone!!!!
fnlyfnd replied to chadwick35/04's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX.....I was talking about the headgaskets. Subaru extends your warranty if you have the dealer put in the conditioner, so they are definitely problematic.

My first new gen subie purchase - advice?
fnlyfnd replied to depleted's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 2.2 was always a little under half way. That was a 1996 legacy though. The fuse holder is its own special thing. It is not in the fuse box, just kinda mounted on the strut tower or firewall. No box, no other fuses. When a fuse is installed into it, it puts the car into FWD. Again, if it is installed just run away no questions asked. Take it to the mech. no matter what. Get it in the air and look for leaks. The 2.2 is notorious for oil leaks around 120k.

2003 LLbean OBW- crappy handling
fnlyfnd replied to CNY_Dave's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI thought a rear sway wouldhelp. Wouldn't it reduce the roll and therefore make the car more stable and predictable. You don't have all the body roll throwing the car all over the place...

My first new gen subie purchase - advice?
fnlyfnd replied to depleted's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXEDIT: If the FWD fuse is in the fuse holder when you look at the car, run away and don't look back. The fuse holder is in the engine compartment on the strut tower or the firewall, I forget. Passenger side for sure...
