  1. There's probably no point in persuing the car because the owner is a former employee of the guy trying to sell it. The former employee owes him $1700 which was what he is asking. I told him I couldn't offer more than $500 and that was stretching it. He said he was going to take him to court so it will probably disappear because the owner is no longer in the area.
  2. It's only a small spot where the rust fix is. We don't get the cancerous type around here. The smoke was a whitish grey color, not black. How about the auto? Anyone know about the harsh shifting?
  3. I just looked at 88/89 (manufactured date of 6/88)GL-10 full-time 4wd turbo wagon with an auto. Overall the car is in really good shape. Interior showing age but holding. All power options worked. A/C worked but needs a charge. Needs windshield replaced but that can wait. Exterior was good except for repaired area at the left rear wheel arch with rust coming through the fix, also not body color. Paint is fading, hood paint is bad. Here's the bad part. It smoke so bad I couldn't see out the back while drivng. It had no power when accelerating and I heard a really bad bearing rattle. My guess is the turbo is bad. What do you guys think? Is this something that can be potentially fixed by replacing the turbo? It also had moderately hard shift from first to second. What about that? Anything to look for? How about the full time 4wd system? Can someone explain how it works. Is it good for wheeling or rallying? What I want is a dual range 5 speed. Is this a good place to start then plan for a swap later? I'd also like to lift it as well. Older Sube's are not very common down here in Arkansas. Tell me what you all think and suggested offers. Thanks.
  4. I've had good luck with the pair from the junkyard. I think I only gave $5 or $10 for them. As far as new aftermarket struts go...usually you have to drill out the old lower mounts. My brother had a 91 Eagle Talon, and he had to do this with the replacements he got. They worked fine. And yes I remember the instructions being vague. edit: I said lower, but it could be either end.
  5. I can't seem to find this blower resister either. Does anyone know where it is located on a 1981 EA81? Maybe this will help out The Sucker King as well.
  6. Then Autozone does have the part listed wrong. The one the specified is shaped like an "F" I've bought the PCV twice now and it's the wrong part. Does anyone have a Brand and part #. Would NAPA be better than Autozone?
  7. Would the PCV location be the same on a 1981 EA81? I bought a new PCV and I can find anything that looks like my new part. I think they have it listed wrong.
  8. Although it sounds like a good idea, you have to take into consideration the sustained level of heat underneath your hood. Most tools and misc. things like jumper cables bungee cords etc.. will do fine. But other stuff you may consider putting in there for temporary storage may not take the heat so well.
  9. Before you put any type of sealant on there, make sure the area is really dry. You don't want any moisture in there at all.
  10. Rob, Do you have a full album yet or just those songs. I wouldn't mind hearing some more...
  11. Rob, Are those your songs on the link you posted? Those are really good! I really like accoustic guitar. Do you play and sing?
  12. I don't know if it is asbestos or not...but just sitting there in front of you or touching it is not a real danger to you. If you start ripping the stuff apart and the dust starts to fly is when the danger start. The danger of asbestos is when it is torn apart and the micro-fibers fly into the air and you breath them into your lungs. That is why you also should never clean any brake system with compressed air. Asbestos material in the brake pads will do the same.
  13. Do you know the cars history? Has it ever been in a wreck? That could be the problem...the car may not be straight anymore.
  14. I've never experienced this problem but could it be that the door itself and not just the window needs a little bit of aligning? Is there any adjustment for the door?
  15. My car looks like the std 4wd hatch only it's a wagon. See the red hatch in the link...my front end looks like that. http://usmb.net/gallery/album72/1980_c Of course I could have just posted a link to the DL wagon in the brochure...just like this one. http://usmb.net/gallery/album72/1980_d
  16. I don't know if this clears anything up...but I have a 1981 DL s/r 4wd wagon with single large round headlights.
  17. I saw an article in a recent kit car mag where a company is selling a sube powered 365 kit. IIRC, they used an EJ22, I could be wrong though. I tried to find the website in my history but couldn't. And I can't remember the title of the mag either. But if you go to one of the kit car mag's website (kitcar.com...I think) they have links to all the kit car mfg's and you should be able to find it. Sorry I can't be of more help. If you head out to the news stand, you'll probably be able to find the mag with the article. I've only seen two maybe three mags dedicated to kit cars, so it shouldn't be too hard.
  18. I know most people from AR are inter-related...however my family relocated here from Iowa just before I was born. So even though I'm from here...I'm really not. What parts are your family from? I'm in northwest AR and nowadays nobody up here is native. Most people are being shipped in by Wally World or Tyson (Tyson actually does ship them in too! Mostly from south o the border). BTW, Who's the other person on here from AR?
  19. Now don't be lumping me in with that group of people west of me...I only said I live close enough to check 'em out!
  20. If you guys figure out where this place is, let me know. I'm fairly close, so I may be able to check 'em out. Especially if it's around Wagoner, OK. If it is more around Atoka that may be a little harder to get to. 75 and 69 intersect down by McAlester which is more of a drive for me. I'd like to know if you figure it out.
  21. I just saw one of those (same color too) on the side of the road today with a DOT sticker on it. Not in near as good condition as that one. About a year ago there was a 78/79 wagon at my local u-pull-it. I pulled a push bar just like that one off it. It had the most immaculate black interior I'd ever seen for a junkyard car. Unfortunately they crushed it shortly after. btw...Nice score!
  22. Do these drawings still exist? I'd like to see them if whoever has them is willing to share. I think I need to replace the motor/tranny mounts in my 81 wagon. Grassroots Motorsports had an article recently on how to make eurathane and delrin bushings that could probably apply to mounts as well. Unfortunetly they haven't included it in their online tech section. I've got it so I'll have to dig through my stacks to see if the info applies.
  23. If you're talking on the trail, most of the time there is no coverage out in the middle of no-where. Not to mention it can get expensive...talk is free with a CB. If you don't want to get a CB, try using the FRS (?) hand held. Those are $20 or less now.
