Chance , take some time and dig through the archives. I’m not a lifted owner but I’ve been here long enough to have seen it all pretty much. There’s a lot of info , or should be. But I’ll agree the first gen gets less attention and there’s less all around as you pointed out. Good news is you’re a fabricator. Don’t hold me to this because I am indeed getting old. But I think you want a dual range five speed - if you’re heart is like mine - they’re the best for fun and function. Those are found in the 85-89’s and if Turbo may likely have an LSD 3.70 and I think you find LSD 3.90 in some models - maybe the full time AWD ? I can’t recall all that detail. And also many people and my heart go for the early 2.2 EJ22 as it’s known. Bellhousing mate kits were out there and although thin you may find a friend in SJR who is one of us and a great person as well as a superior resource for lift kits. Another person does those transmission mate kits as well but I can’t recall the guy at this time. When I get back into the game I’ll be doing the same I’m mentioning. I have a 2.2 and am getting another 1978 4WD wagon. Good luck with it. -
Those glass fuses can be bad and easily overlooked when the glass has separated from the metal end cap and it LOOKS like it’s ok until you tug on the end cap and it reveals itself. That is assuming yours is like the previous 1600’s and I’m pretty sure yours is mostly carryover of that era for engine electrical. The factory service manual suggests to exchange both the alternator and VR at the same time on the previous 1600’s 1976-79 But now that you mention the EMC box I think that begins in 1980/81 so that could be something I’m far from familiarity with.

Fuse box under the dash on the left side ? I don’t have a good recollection at this time since I ditched the 80’s cars two decades ago or more. Fusible links up front in the engine bay for sure. When I get home I’ll check a factory manual from 1982 , also has 1600’s with the 1800’s

I’m thinking a DL 1600 of that era is a leftover from the previous 1600’s of the late 70’s. So you want to verify that your alternator and voltage regulator are working well. Did you jumped wire the pump to verify it’s working or just turn the key and see that it pumps ? And does it pump more than 3 seconds ?

The EA82 pump has the “Mickey Mouse” gasket and an O ring of 45.7 x 2.4 -

Hold the phone ! I just looked at another page of the same manual and there are different figures 38.2 x 3 for the large one and 14 x 2.4 for the small one IF EA81. And if it’s an older EA71 it’s got a paper pump to body gasket and a small O ring of 10.8 x 2.4 The manual I’m using now is for 1982 1600/1800 -

Which pump ? EA63/71 EA81 EA82 or ? Edit - I just opened my eyes wider after I inserted all that info. for the EA71 later edition I see 47.5x 2.0 for the large O ring that goes over the pump rotor. For that same era EA81 you have 49.7 x 3.5 as that same O ring. Then there is the smaller O ring for the spring and ball valve which is 15.5 x 1.5 for both 1600 and 1800’s Will check EA82 for you soon. -

BS !! Just search for rotors. That’s my opinion , but you may have already tried that. Always can upgrade to 80’s vented disks with a little more searching and a little money- not much. Then you may have an easier time finding rotors in the future. To me items like brakes , rotors , and general consumables I stock up what I can. I’ve already lived the 70’s ownership where you couldn’t get parts from the dealer after 20 years or maybe less. So you tend to stock up when the wall hits you. Sounds like warped rotors to me and maybe now a sticky caliper or two. Find the rebuild kits while they are still out there. Maybe place the items in the guys hands and instruct him to return the removed parts to you. Keep them on their toes. Best of luck with it. Since it’s done so much sitting maybe give the wheel bearings some thought depending on when they were done last. Might as well spend the money right and take care of each corner as best as you can. Bearing , dust seals , brake pads and rotors. Then don’t sweat it for another 100k which you’ll never do anyways now that it’s so classic. All just my opinion. Enjoy ! -

Scott , I hope you mean EA81 and not EA82 Its your business of course but man it would hurt me if you stuck an OHC engine in there. If you do , go EJ not EA. Best of luck with it. Enjoy ! No experience with CCR other than Shawn worked there once upon a time and yeah we played “Willy and the Poor Boys” until we wore the grooves down.

Your bed seatbelts look decent enough to restore but what the other guy mentioned were the vinyl covers that went over those seatbelt coil units. They’re nothing that can’t be made up / copied easily. But you have a lot of work to do before worrying about those. Best of luck with it. My suggestion is get it down to the core and work that body. Brake lines are a big issue at this point too. Plenty to keep you busy for a while. Enjoy the efforts ! -

Cool. Lots of older cars had the info in them. Several of us have those items. Nice that you got them too , especially the window sticker. Sweet ! In 77 and 78 you got those style bolt on centercaps so there’s no emblem in those. -

I’m not sure you could get the four spoke steering wheel in the 77/78 Brat or 4WD wagon. My catalogs are at storage now. Saw your pics in the other post. Looks like a nice base and you have the air deflector. -
Not far from you in Scranton or thereabouts is Carl Porter. He’s like I was in that he’s gathering NOS and mostly has 80’s parts. Find him easier on FB in the Subaru groups like “4x140 or GTFO” , USMB , And Vintage Subaru Parts etc , and another one too - brain farting ... I think he’s here too but not too often.
